This does seem like a scheme to attract new customers to AfterPay. I wonder if they will ditch this intensive to use their product in a year once they've met their sign-up target? I wonder if competitors will go down the same path e.g. With Velocity points, once Velocity becomes more valuable again.
I've used AP once before so I'm ineligible for the 500 bonus points. I can't see myself spending over $1000 to start earning points either, especially if there is the likelihood that it may affect my credit rating. However, surly it can't be that bad regarding credit rating? Unless of course you miss payments.
