Qantas Premier Credit Card

Applied for this one for the 120k on Sunday 04/08. Phone call on the following Tuesday 06/08 asking
about last address since current address (16 years ago) and name a few credit cards I had applied for in the past.
Approved last Friday 09/08. Qantas pub invitations already loaded today 12/08.

I need to wait another 9 months to jump back on this one. There is also the Everyday card which is only $29 fee for 42k points (6 months * 7k). Buggers make you keep the card for 6 months now (it used to be 2) if you want full points.

Can someone post the bpay biller code for the qantas premier card? I assume the reference number is the credit card number?

Mrs tizey keeps the minimum limit on cards, and I need to cycle through a few more payments this first month to make the most of the 10k 1:1 points structure.

Got a call from 02 80272323. Has anyone gotten the same? Applied yesterday online. The indian chap asked for birth month, prior residential address, current and prior mobile provider and mother's maiden name to verify the application. He did quote my annual salary per the uploaded payslip, then hurriedly said he would endorse the application and it would take 5 business days or so to review. Said he was from citi, and was in regards to the qantas premier cc.

I was abit uncomfortable having to provide additional information to begin with and haven't had this with other banks. Did anyone else get a call from this number and all legitimate/ok?

Mrs tizey received a call confirming past residential house and a previous credit provider. Sounds the same. Not great, but we all know citi work in mysterious ways

Yeah I got multiple calls from that number with all sorts of random questions.

I applied for this card 13.08 and had no response from them. Only found out i was declined when i called them up. I thought they would reject me since they run credit checks through CitiBank.. these mobs don't like me. I've tried applying for their card before too. Are they able to tell me why they are rejecting my applications when i have no problems with any other banks. I've held a few cards in the past and only have the Bankwest World card active at the moment. Anyone else had issues with getting approved by Citibank and how to overcome it?

Almost certainly not, I'm afraid. For better or worse the decision for a financial institution to extend credit is entirely a commercial in confidence decision, and all you have access to is your credit file from the three agencies (Equifax, Experian and Illion) and the answers you gave in your application.

You are certainly not alone here. There are many people with notches on their belt from Citi rejections. There's varying advice on how to deal with it and I'm no expert but I would say from what I have read in terms of patterns behind Citi rejections, it has little to do with your credit worthiness in particular (ie having no Mortgage, good income, low credit card limits/debts seems to be more of a hindrance than a benefit with Citi) and perhaps more traditional credit card products might be better bets.

I think you'll find many who have reported significant problems with Citibank in this thread and in various other threads over the past few years. You may like to take some time to read the information/experiences already reported.

In short, there's no way to overcome these issues. Some, myself included, have taken a decision to avoid Citibank. There are plenty of other equally generous offers out there.

Also had this experience, not unusual for Citi.

Also had the same experience, I think it's relatively standard for Citi.

Found this very painless. Applied online, uploaded the required docs and received a phone call 2 days later asking to verify a few details (nothing I hadn't already provided so not sure what the point of that was).

Received an email that my QF invites were available the following day and a notice that the card was on its way the day after. Just waiting for it to arrive and hopefully the points will credit as smoothly.

My application also was smooth and painless. The crediting of bonus points on the other hand...

My first statement was issued within 5 days of approval. I called to clarify if that meant I missed the first month of 20K bonus points. They submitted a request for the 20K points to be credited as part of the next statement.

I applied for this card 3 weeks ago, was denied automatically via the online screening. Must be a Citibank thing, as I also have a Coles MC.

Around the same time, I also applied for the St George Signature card, and was approved and have already received the card.

When do the points and bonus points land after your first statement? Currently 7k short of a Hawaii upgrade which I'm flying next month and wondering if I have to start the process now of following up or whether I'm being impatient.

Points hit my QFF account the next day after the statement, including the 20k bonus for the month.
