Qantas Premium 20,000 Points Offer Frustration

I also received an apology letter about a week ago. Letter confirms that there is no annual fee for the first year and 12,500 points on first spend. They will reverse annual fee charged and if there has been any interest charged or late payment fees they will reverse these as well

Surprised that letter did not refer to the standard 5,000 points on first spend and 2,500 points on first spend on QF products and services.

Can confirm that 12,885 points have been credited to my QFF account today.

It is a shame that QF Holidays does not count as QF spend. Will have to book a QF flight this week and wait for the remainder of the 7,500 points to be credited to QFF account and receive 2 complimentary QC passes.

Overall I think this is good customer service from American Express to acknowledge that there has been an error and doing everything to possible to rectify it.

IIRC 500 QFF points for $20 counts as Qualifying spend. (+ you get another 20 via the AX spend)

Yes I am somewhat in the same boat

Joined from Qantas promotion.

Here is saga so far

1. Applied by 30/11

2. Card arrived early Dec

3. Card activated and first spend $20 on fuel on 8/12

4. 5025 points arrive in Qantas account on 19/12

5. Spend $1108.80 on flights on 22/12

6. $195 wrongly charged on 25/12 (who works Christmas Day)

7. Rang AMEX early Jan and $195 reversed without too much argument. Those girls in the Phillipines very obliging.

8. 5108 points arrive on 19/1 which amount is a little puzzling. I will have to wait for the online statement in next few days to see how this is made up.

9. Still no QC passes

10 Still at least 10000-12500 points short but I read somewhere that Qantas will take 5-8 weeks to post their share.

Still no 12500 points posted but my 10 weeks expires on 16/2.

So I will wait til early next week to chase up.

Was in Perth on weekend and would have liked to use my passes but not yet received so that forces wife and self to take another flight to get to use them. Unfortuneately that will not be for awhile.

here I am, just on 4 weeks after first posting and guess what.....still no 12,500 points & no qantas passes!!!

The AMEX customer service centre is a joke!!! I even had one guy ring me up on Australia Day to say that everything has been rectified and that all points have now been posted along with the qantas passes:!::shock::!: I'm talking about you Jamar!!!

I rang them up today and after going through the same old routine of having to explain why I am calling (dont they use case notes!!!) and them saying that the extension number that I was given is invalid...AARGGHHH!!! I was even told that the qantas passes were mailed to me on Nov 11 - how come all of a sudden they know this and why is it that this is the only piece of mail that mysteriously went missing in the last 2+ months........pffft!

How can a company like Amex run with such an uncooperative and unhelpful service desk? If and eventually when I get what I was promised by Amex, this little card is getting cut-up...

:evil::evil::evil:

I have now decided to leave the issue for the 12 weeks so there can be no argument or excuse offered and then I will release "the dogs".

COME ON MARCH 2

Does anyone have any experience with how long it takes for the QC passes to arrive after the first spend? I need them by April and I'm trying to work out when I should book my relevant QF flight to count as "Qantas Spend"

My first QF spend with the card was 15 November '06, and the date on the letter, with my 2 QP invitations, reads 28 November '06.

Just a side note to some other readers; your QF points only get credited to your QF membership account at the end of every billing cycle. I called Amex to ask what had happened with my overdue points (as they had not yet appeared), and was told that they are sitting in my Amex account, ready for transfer at the designated time.

Daniel, I haven't forgotten. I should be in SIN at around 3:10pm on Thursday 19 April waiting for the BA flight back to SYD. I am just getting some final prices before booking the flights.

Hmmm.... Am I allowed entry into the QF lounge in SIN, and to invite a guest not on the same flight as me, as a OneWorld Sapphire but flying BA?

OT: In this instance, by the rules, only if your guest is flying QF/BA.

See here: Flying with Us - Qantas Club - Lounge Access

& here: oneworld - oneworld Tier Status

However, in practice it seems you generally can as the application of this fine details is often "hit and miss".

Serfty or others,
Has anyone purchsed FF points from Qantas and had that considered a Qantas spend for the purposes of the 2,500 bonus points? It seems like a good deal: $20 for 3000 points (2,500 + 500).

Yes I know it is off topic but not many threads remain on topic on AFF.

I will be travelling BA (?) and my guest will be travelling QF on the same day. Under QF rules you need to be travelling on the same flight which appears to be ignored when you look at the OneWorld rules.

...You may also invite a guest. Note that both you and your guest must be travelling together and have onward travel that day on a flight marketed and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit. ...
As I indicated this is the rule, but in practice it is often enough for your guest to be flying with the Airline operating the lounge, in this case BOTH QF and BA. It's worth a shot. ;)

Well just received a small quantity of points 19/2 on Qantas Amex but no 12500 bonus points so if they say they are paid with their normal crediting cycle they now cannot give them to me within the 12 weeks max they advertised as this expires on 2/3/2007.

The qantas club invites may never arrive
