Qantas proposal to reward people who vaccinate with flight credits/points

Pity QF doesn’t have pooling as we’ve managed to get every single family member (except the kids of course) vaccinated in AU now and I could get some serious points from them
You can still sweep the points across through points transfer?

Yep and unlike Virgin the number of transfers you can make is unlimited (up to 600,000 points per year).

You do need to be sending at least 5,000 points but the easy way to get around that is just sending the other person 5,000 from your own account and then they send the 6,000 back.

VA will be offering a COVID-19 vaccination competition, VA-X & Win, for all Australian residents:

EOI:

Not Flying but some might have missed that Luxury Escapes is giving a $200 voucher for vaccinated people for overseas travel, eventually. Online and working now.

I hope VA2’s offer is also a reward not just a competition...
It's great that both Airlines will incentivise the mob in their own way to get the va-x.

I'm really happy that they'll both have different offers, of course some will say one better than the other, and of course that'll be the case for individual scenarios.
I'm sure most here @ AFF will participate in both offers.
Personally I like the chance to win something, a few points don't excite me too much. Each to their own of course.

I do get very frustrated that being fully vaccinated is still not assisting those with dying family members see them face to face interstate.... What's the point, C'mon gov.
Weddings n parties I say tough luck, delay it, but dying family must be made an exception. My 2c.

Many weddings are on to their third or fourth attempt now. How much longer especially when brides are into their thirties and they want to have children. And many have religious beliefs that are barriers to children before marriage. And for those this creates much angst and potentially mental health issues and for PND. My son will only have one wedding and I'll have to miss it. Won't get that moment back no matter how much we will try to make light of it. I don't expect to be in a good place next month.

Fair enough, but it's only 1 year so far in total & couldn't say weddings atm are all delayed a year as that would mean weddings all been delayed from March/April 2020.

If this went on another year or 2 then I'd understand the issues you mentioned more.

You do realise that it's much longer than a year? It's 18 months already and no sign of anything promising for another year. Makes it 2.5 years......

Why dont they offer 10,000 lifetime non expiry free world air travel (which can be Willed on to family members to enjoy if you should croak ) lottery, now that may persuade us who are ROFL at their current pathetic offerings.

I'm curious to hear what people think of Qantas' offer to give out free flight vouchers, points and status credits for getting the COVID jab.

Whilst nothing is set in stone yet, the AFR is reporting up to 1000 QF points, flight vouchers and status credits are being considered.

Personally, I think 1000 points is nothing and probably too low but maybe it's just enough to convince people? By the sounds of it in the media this morning this will turn into a large program that will run through to the end of the year.

FYI there's other places to discuss the rollout: Vaccine & Treatments
As of last Tuesday I'm fully vaccinated (2 Pfizer jabs) and did not need any external encouragement to get them.
The idea Qantas and others have is good, but tiny amounts of points and SCs is a bit of a yawn.
1000 points per member for example would do nothing more than damage the FF program. So many extra (redeemable) points out there dilutes the value proposition even further for serious accumulate/redeem flyers. Of course many of those points would expire in due course for the inattentive.
Likewise a measly 25 SCs is laughable as they have an even shorter lifespan.
Qantas needs to shake of its Queen of Mean reputation for this one!

Althoigh people can get married if it is that important, without having a wedding. I know of at least two couples (my cousins daughter,+1, and a friends niece+1) both in Europe, who chose to go ahead and get married last year and decided they would have a wedding event to celebrate their marriage at a later date, when they can.

The other side of this some people have been freed of the obligation/expectation to have a big wedding relived of all the stress and mental health issues that come with having a big wedding ;)

Son is resorting to this in July. Watching it over zoom is not something I’m looking forward to. But unless we are allowed out next year I’ll miss the celebration in June next year. Well, I will ensure that won’t happen. They wanted to get married officially. Bride in her thirties.

Yea totally mean, I mean compared to other major Australian corporations who have profited massively from this whole disaster what are they offering or doing to drive the agenda... oh wait, they don’t care :)

So, if not points, or status credits, what do you suggest they do?
