Qantas redemption booking woes

Thanks. That's exactly what I thought. I did actually cancel online 2 days ago however have no acknowledgement (ie no email etc) other than finding the booking is now defunct online.
The points should return pretty much straight away, the $$ refund can take a few days.

I cancelled a CR booking earlier this year - albeit within 24 hrs - the points were back immediately and whilst there wasn’t a confirmation email that the booking was cancelled (like hotels do), I did receive an email almost straight away advising that the refund had been processed.

I just had a thought. The booking was through my account (my points) for a friend. I will check if they have had any points returned to them. My CC is/was the only one in the booking.

In the past the points returned instantly or at least within two days. Of late it took over a month for them to the refunded and I had to call their call centre four times.

I've cancelled three bookings, all international, recently and received the "your refund has been processed" email a few days later each time. The points landed in my account within 1-2 days of the email. Since the booking was made from your account, you should receive the refund however if your friend/relative's contact details were on the booking, they might receive the email re the refund processing.
