Come join me 24 March on EK407, already 4 F pax. Or if you choose EK435 we can at least attempt to drink the AKL lounge dry ;)

Currently sitting with GPH and planning right now. I just had a 50% SC offer come through, so F is probably worth another twirl

It is tempting, I will discuss with “Her indoors”

Am awaiting to be rebooked (via expedia) - no news yet. Emirates say it will take them a day, but prior to hitting the hang up button said as I'd booked via a travel agent to speak with them (as you would usually expect). Spoke with Expedia - they haven't heard anything from Emirates yet. Spoke with them on Wednesday - am awaiting a rebooking.

Any advice on how long to wait till I call Expedia again to be rebooked? Still heard nothing...

Has anyone been rebooked yet? Direct booking with Emirates or via a travel agent?

Dear AFF Advisors - I need help!!! Sitting in 1A on EK407 24 March 2018 - the last EK flight out of AKL. Just tried to buy a ticket for my father in F or J or Y - the whole flight is booked out! Question; is this an "Emirate Thing" or can it be real? Both EK & QF say every seat booked. Now seriously thinking the 2nd last EK flight out to AKL could be a good thing.

If it's the last flight it is possible there's a block on seats. Could be for a couple of reasons... pax leaving on EK services after the last flight might be offered first chance to be reaccommodated on that last flight, and it might also be that EK is holding some seats for a special purpose (PR etc).

EK435 to BNE is also zerod out too so definitely deliberate

I wonder if EK has something planned... or they're cancelling these?

very odd!

Of course remember i407 is not the last EK flight out of AKL.. they will still have the DXB direct flight. It would just be the last TT tag

Guess I won't be tempted into doing it - unless this is just some weird temporary thing :)
seems unlikely with the 2 flights affected the same way.

Disappointing that Qantas continues to use coughpy, cramped 737s on long-haul flights eg four hours to NZ; four hours to Perth. Flew Qantas business class to Perth once and it was no better than economy class.

[We now fly Vietnam Airlines business to Europe - superb airline, really comfortable seats and service - and $4K return.

Just like the majority of European and American airlines around the world too.

1. A four hour flight is *not* long-haul.

2. Domestic J no better than domestic Y? Hardly ... but there *is* a disparity between transcon J on the 737 and 330.

OK - can see the attraction $$$ in a market which is saturated, but out of interest:

1. Who do you use for your domestic J flying?

2. Who do you use for your trans tasman flying?

Regards,

BD

4 Hours is hardly long-haul.

And as a point of reference, unless in an exit row or Row 4, J in the 737 is better than the majority of Y seats in the 737.

That's great it meets your needs and you're happy....

.. but how is that relevant to what equipment QF uses across the tasman (or domestic)?

btw you forget that with a few exceptions of connecting widebodies to feed North American flights NZ use all Y A320's across the putch which makes a QF 73H look pretty good.

The reality is that it's all about demand and schedule. The 737 means you can have multiple flights a day in a market to meet different schedules vs a widebody doing less flying and thus more inconvenient to the public who value schedule(and price). EK pulling out means QF can sub in those 332's on some of these flights and still make a buck and keep some premium flyers happy.. or happier.

We'd all like an A380 F cabin and service when we fly eveywhere, but the realities of economics, demand, supply and fleet availability says we just can't have that.

Slight hyperbole? And four hours is at the upper end of short haul.

BOOM, BOOM! Got my father in 2A with me today. Party flight is on again AKL-MEK 24/3/18. Why no tickets could be purchased on this flight for the past 10 days - I will never know.
