I honestly think there are far better things in the world to get heart burn over than Alan Joyce. Sure, some of us have QF shares that have taken a dive, but we all know the risks when playing the share market or at least we should, I am 100% sure none of us have been turned away from the plane with a note in hand "flight cancelled because Alan didn't pay the fuel bill", and I am equally sure that none of us have found the service on board less professional or lessor quality since Alan has taken the helm!

I guess most people investment in Qantas is not through the share market, but more an emotional investment based on their membership of the loyalty program called Qantas Frequent Flyer. People tend to take such emotional investments personally!

Sure the airline has enhanced many things, one cracker less for instance, but seriously, do these things really matter in the scheme of things? The bus gets from A to B in caring levels of style, a frequent flyer programme that is the final bastion of class segregation (thanks whoever planted that seed in my mind) and a reasonably modern fleet of AC to boot and a pretty darn fine safety record even including recent mishaps where all survived!

Putting aside the cracker example - if you mean the Arnotts water cracker, that was a supplier enhancement to the portion control packaging size, the class distinction of which you speak creates a desire to travel in a certain style. The problem for Qantas is that people want that style, without necassarily paying for it.

I have a bucket list item of flying in First one day, and, since I missed the Concorde, I don't want to miss that one as well. So Qantas better hang around and make sure they can deliver on that!

I find it hard to understand why some people continue to slag what we can't and don't have the ability to change. Qantas is a business and how the business operates is dictated by the board of directors and the company charter. If you as a share holder do not like the operation and how it works, you have 2 real options available to you, sell up and remove you interest or 2, vote the board off or vieto board decisions, simple.

A bit harder to do when you're emotionally tied to the company through their loyalty scheme!

I'm not sure where this reasoning comes from, but I just want to say my workplace still (well last December) has 3 water crackers in their packaging. So I'm not entirely sure it is a supplier thing.

Interesting. The standard portion control packaging for Arnotts Water Crackers is 2 pieces. (3 pieces if you go Jatz crackers)

I can double check but I only noticed there was 3 because of the 2 cracker thing on qantas. Maybe we just have old stock, but this was "customer" food not staff. So I'd hope it wasn't old.

I dont think think FRA would be much of a loss if there was a good alliance ex-DXB to more European (and Middle Eastern) locations.

I would hope they wont be leaving PVG as that is the future.

I don't know aircraft type and frequency of PVG-SYD flights but loading must be a worry for QF. A colleague returning to Sydney Wed evening said there were just 88 pax in Y.

It is daily and has not seemed very full on my last two trips. I have another in a fortnight. The aircraft is an international config A330.
