Qantas Safety Demo - Olympic Special

Having viewed it 3 times this weekend I don't mind it

BUT

the clapping at the end, ugh!! just cut the last 20 seconds and it would be fine!

As for QF at least the voice over doesn't have the worst lisp I've heard since Ita was on TV (c.f. DJ's video "there are thix eckthith on thith Boeing theven thix theven thix hundred...") Can't believe how many times the letter 's' occurs in the video!

Reminds me of an old 'doctor' joke:

Doctor (with stethoscope poised): "Big breaths."
Young female patient: "Yeth, and I'm only thixteen!"

I have been quite tempted to clap myself at the end and jeer "the safety video is over, yeah!!" in the J cabin.

I saw it last Thursday for the first time and it seems Ricky Ponting is the only one who can say a line! The clapping is clearly someone's brainstorming idea that should have been left out ;)

I quite like the new safety video, a bit less cheesy than the Olympic one, although its too long and a bit loud in parts.

The new safety demo is lame.

In fact it is cringe-worthy.

Why try and "theme" a safety demo, just make it what it needs to be instead of producing a half baked awkward attempt at entertainment which it clearly isn't.

I don't think they were trying to entertain anyone. Just trying to put together something that people (particularly in summer where the once a year flyers make an appearance) would watch.

The flight attendant next to the captain in the current safety demo is MEGA CUTE

She also has massive trouble holding back a laugh when the pilot says thanks "skipper". It'd be better if they had Richie and the rest of the commentary team involved.

If they were, they failed massively.

The safety demo should be for all flyers be they daily, weekly or yearly, having a theme is both lame and unnecessary. People jump up and down because seat back IFE costs Qantas money, but spending thousands using sporting celebrity's (If you happen to follow cricket) to awkwardly show a safety demo is not a waste of money?

No wonder the shares are worth nothing.

Any safety demo will not appeal to the weekly flyer, you only have to look around during the demo (most are reading books or papers).

I'm betting that it cost them nothing for the cricketers to help film as it will be part of the overall sponsorship deal. Likewise with the Olympians last time.

So if you are saying a theme is lame, then obviously the Air NZ one fails too? I'm wondering why you think a theme is lame?

Having seen it this week for the first time, it wasn't too bad. The clapping was a bit annoying, but that is cricket for you.

Someone better tell the market and a bunch of aviation analysts then

Though QANTAS has never been evidently charitable even in very profitable times, so in the apparent current market they would most likely use volunteers for the next safety video.. Attempting the profess the virtues of assisting the 'underprivileged" whilst the CEO & board lines their own pockets with undeserved extra gratis payments for 'saving" the Company through rationale wisdom inspired ideologies.
Guess shall allow the market forces to assess & dictate the true worth though..
just a thought..
