Hi all,

just been wondering if Qantas will try to fill up all it's flights since the entire grounding..

Standard prices seem to be being displayed on Qantas.com - Does that mean they are just knocking them off cheap; or are people actually not buying tickets?

Thankssss.

Hi all,

Thankssss.

For example today out of MEL all loads are very light. But this may be due to being a public holiday.
But i assume loads arn't what they were, so there will be more cheap fares in the coming months and weeks.

We all hope so...

I know I hope so - I was just looking at qantas.com hoping there would be some really good sale airfares for this weekend, and we'd be able to have a cheap weekend away. Nothing.

I've been stuck here in SIN since Saturday. No email, phone call from QF notifying me of the grounding.

After over an hour on the phone listening to their spam someone finally answered who said they should be able to get me out of here on Wednesday.

QF were selling one way tickets SIN-BNE on their website last night for today for SGD 500. They were also selling flights to SYD.

They already have my money, yet prefer to offer flights to other customers.

So the answer is yes, they are trying to fill up all its flights.

There was an announcement last night that QF will be having a sale to really push back into the market. Expected timing of the release of the sale fares was the end of this week.

A double status credits offer would be VERY nice - I wonder if the double points doubles our already doubled earn as Platinums?

Just to trot out my favourite response to this sort of thing "Unlikely to include WP because our benefit are already sufficient" ;)

We have not used Qantas international for a number of year, and we are willing to give it a go. We are looking at next year, business class. So if your listening Mr Joyce, time to get some old customers back. The cashed up type, like baby boomers.

In that case, I'll probably keep flying - at least until the beginning of December when I'm off on holidays - with Virgin, since I've been fairly impressed with them since the status match.

I'll be honest, I'll be a little annoyed if they offer heavily discounted fares.
(Given I've just booked some flights, booked almost exactly the same time the first planes took off)

Edit: I would however be more than happy if they decide to award me bonus points and \ or some other discount or gift as a thankyou...

I booked SIN-MEL just over a week ago. If the promotion comes out, I wonder it would be worth cancelling then re-booking to get the double SCs?

Yes, I read that article too. Seemed to be written by someone who had no idea, perhaps an American.

As for Mr Joyce, I can now see where he is coming from. Being Irish, he just wants to emulate the Irish economy, and bestow such greatness upon Australia.

So far, he's doing pretty well...

So he has a business that is profitable without govt subsidy (like his competitors) has very low debt and is looking to be more efficient- just clarify for me how that emulates the Irish economy.

Also AGAIN for the record he is an Australian citizen so any attacks on his nationality should really be directed at him being Australian.

Attack the man's business strategy not his nationality and please don't attack other economies who don't have the fortune of sitting on a pile of resources.

Qantas will be in real trouble if they don't get their customers back. They'd be willing to do more if they have nothing to lose.

And the purpose of the sale would be to simply irritate loyal frequent flyers who have booked all their flights 6 months in advance at a higher price....

The purpose would be to stimulate demand, given the reported recent drop in forward sales.

Who on earth does that?....

Oh you JohnK ;)
