Qantas Singapore Lounge [overcrowding]

It seems that a 3K pax with status, purchased access or Qantas club membership would have to be accommodated before other pax given they can't access any other lounge.

The article omits the requirement for QF pax having an 081 ticket number (issued by Qantas) to access the Emirates lounge.

It sounds like people being turned away were being offered SATS access. Some sort of voucher I expect.

I was there last week and qf club (and possibly gold based on one argument outside the door) were being sent to the Sats lounge. 10 pax in the line and only 3 of us got in..

It's only going to get worse with an additional SIN-SYD flight three times per week. What a disaster.

The SIN lounge was pretty quiet when I got there last Monday about 3 hours before QF2 was to leave. An hour later and the lounge was filling up quite quickly, which soon became a dog's breakfast with people bring turned away and quite a number of people trying to find seats!

It’s just not on they are turning away people who are entitled to be there. Blind Freddy knew this was always going to be an issue so instead of improving their lounge they are limiting access. Great enhancement Qantas.

A comment below that article that QF needs a F lounge at SIN is pretty spot on. A capacity of 50-100 would relive the other lounge and offer the F and Plat and above pax something appropriate, rather than being crammed in or being shunted somewhere else.

... Which would reinstate the Lounge configuration Qantas had when previously operating to London with First before the Dubai adventure.

Whoever thought they could reinstate via SIN without this infrastructure obviously earns their cost-efficiency bonus this year.

BD

How much money do the boffins waste by reinventing the past and call it progress and then blow their trumpets in fanfare.

Qantas has one of the most generous children policies which is causing capacity restraint (and myself being a beneficiary of this policy). I have used the Qantas lounge on CX flight because CX counts anyone over 2 towards the guest quota, so you end up seeing families on any OW flights going to the Qantas lounge due to the children policy.

Flew QF36 Sunday June 10th. No special service for 1st Class passengers that I could see. I arrived at 5pm and hung around for 20mins but with the amount of children in there I quickly exit'd to check out the BA lounge which was a lovely quiet haven and then hit the Emirates lounge where I was one of six and again a lovely quiet haven. The Emirates Lounge won hands down. I left the Emirates lounge at 7.45pm made my way to the gate and boarded. A special should out to guy behind me who invited his mate into his first Suite for drinks for the first 3 hours of the flight. Even noise cancelling headphones could not drown out the ego stroking going on behind me. One of the crew at the end of the flight approached myself and a few others to apologise for them. Not her fault but appreciated the gesture.

It may not have been her fault but the CSM should have booted the guest out after 30 minutes.

Doubt it as the bills for using third party lounges will start adding up.

Maybe all of the fake status generated by the endless bonus SC promotions is finally coming back to bite....

I think that’s too simplistic. The lounge was crowded well before the popular Bonus SC came into play. It was overcrowded and noisy right from the time they ‘enhanced’ It years ago.

Agree. The DSCs have contributed to crowded J domestic and F international lounges. Combined international lounges such as SIN where simple QC membership gets you in were always going to be crowded as soon as there's a couple of flights departing. That said, DSCs will not have helped.

I've disliked the SIN lounge for years - actually, been disappointed with the lounge would be more accurate - and that's before the significant ramp-up in flights and pax.

Not travelling to Singapore that much these days but will always visit EK and BA if open. Will give the F / P1 treatment in the lounge a go too, of course.
