Well, getting OTT, but News Limited are well known for completely making up stories.

Sorry to diverse but popcorn now there is a thought. I should take some on my next flight and ask them to heat up for me. When we travel, hes Mr Brown and Im Ms Green and sometimes we dont even board at the same time or sit next to each other.

It may indicate that the lady is married but doesn't determine if the two people are married to each other, even if they do have the same family name.

I am just fed up with political commentary from the CEO and being told what I should think and when to think it.

OK, now that news limited has been raised, and consider the quoted original concern of OP ...I can think of another (former Australian) CEO (well technically he's no longer CEO any more), of not only telling people what to think and when to think but influencing them in sometimes far more subtle ways that most people don't even know he's doing it. And in a far more influential way than of a Qantas CEO - after all vast majority of Australians would only have sporadic contact with Qantas, many less than once a year, a substantial number never. The CEO I'm talking about has vastly more influence.

You could say that John Borghetti is a quiet achiever by comparison. Interesting the discussion about a Chairperson Lounge for Qantas, Virgin director Ms Elizabeth Bryan is referred to officially as Chairman, but that doesn't stop one or two local papers who persist to reference her as Chairwoman.

I'm no fan of QA, but the beat-up about this is ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with using PC language, it's just not a big deal. I made the silly mistake of pushing the wrong button on my car radio today and slipped from the ABC to some redneck right-wing claptrap talkback today and they were frothing about this! Get over it you oldies (grrrr ...the very same people who stuffed up our environment in the first place! I hate old people). One thing was clear though - QA can't be spending any advert dollars with these commercial-radio-blabberers else they'd be singing their praises.

Everybody has an opinion and the right to air that opinion using whatever source they want. Like others have the right to disagree with that opinion, or to ignore and move on. I don't agree with every opinion, but I will agree with their right to speak their mind. To do otherwise is wrong IMHO.

I just asked my 3yo if she knew who her parents are. Nope didn't understand the word, but knew who Mum and Dad are.

You would think that staff would be able to use discretion and be smart enough to read the situation to use the appropriate language.
