Qantas status rollover - error reversal

I doubt they'd make any official communication on this. Most likely they simply didn't properly test the rollover before rolling it out (or felt it was better to put something out that was wrong than nothing at all) then went back to fix it afterwards.

Welcome to AFF, NiteShok.

Doubt QF will say anything publicly about it. Yet another clanger by the IT dept. Since their official rep RedRoo became moribund, QF haven't engaged with AFF at all, unless the forum has asked them something.

cheers skip

It seems pretty clear what happened. The end result is the correct SCs were rolled over despite earlier excitement and hope for many (which is understandable). As we love to say the work experience kids made an error between the actual eligible amount and the max allowed. Should not have gotten past dev testing but we all know how that goes at QF :)

I too was quite happy to see 100SCs roll over, then noticed it reset to 50, and realised I thought it should be 200!

Before the rollover I was silver and had 245 SCs.
Of that, 40 were from flights (Covid, eh?), 10 from BP incentive and the rest were bonus Status Support

So when they rolled over, I retained Silver and got 100SCs then reduced to 50. Makes sense, as it did say in the T&Cs for status support that it was a MAXIMUM of 100 for Silver, and they would only rollover earned points, not bonus.

All happy so far until I remembered I was also Points Club Plus until the end the status year, which promised to roll forward a maximum of 100 status credits, and the T&Cs say that's in addition to the status support incentive, but makes no mention that it doesn't apply to bonus SCs.

Spoke to QF who keep mixing the two up. If they'd just say "hey, you only earned 50 and you got all of them rolled over" I would probably grumble and accept it. Instead they kept trying to insist the schemes are somehow related (when the T&Cs say they're independent) and refuse to acknowledge the fact that points club plus didn't exclude bonus credits.

My understanding was you kept your status (silver in this case) if your membership expired March 31 and you had taken at least one flight. Hubby took 3 flights. Hubby’s status has gone back to bronze and 274 status points gone. I understand they reset but I thought he fulfilled obligations to stay silver. Can anyone explain this to me or is this an error? He was also qualified for points club until 2022

Normal requirements are four flights and 250SC to retain Silver so he was one flight short for that.

To retain via status extension under the special requirements you needed to make a new booking 23 November 2020 onwards and take the flight. Earlier bookings didn’t qualify.

Status rollover credits was to rollover some credits to the new membership year which is a separate thing to the status extension.

If he had made an eligible new booking between 23 Nov and 31 Mar, he should have been renewed at Silver.

I do not believe 4~ are relevant. If He held Silver status at his anniversary date (31 March) and booked and flew at least one flight sector between November 23 and March 31 then the status should have rolled over and some rollover SC (depending on how many were earned post November 23) should have applied.

Note say some old flight credits or vouchers were used to purchase flights post November 23 that may be the issue and it may be worth talking to QF if this is the case as may require manual adjustment imo.

I only mentioned the 4~ for the normal requirements. helenma's husband nearly qualified normally to retain silver. Most of those retaining under a status extension wouldn't have been in that position.

The 4~ aren't needed if you meet the status extension requirements of booking a flight from Nov 23 to March 31 and taking the flight in time.

Note that there was no requirement to actually fly between those dates; you just had to make a booking between November 23 and your status expiry date (for a flight anytime up until December 31) and the status should have been extended.

+1's expiry is also March 31. She made a booking between 23/11 & 31/3 for a flight in October 2021 and her status has been extended until 31/3/2022. She hasn't taken any flights during the 23/11 to 31/3 period.

Good to know. tbh the wording seemed to change at some point or there was something I recall suggesting the flight needed to happen before anniversary date, though the original wording was indeed suggesting what you've seen happen in practice so that's informative. thanks! :)

Yes.

Qantas didn't say that bonus status credits earned from a DSC offer wouldn't roll over, in fact I specifically asked and they said these would roll over. The bonus (free) SC from the Status Support offers don't roll over.

Just had a look at my QF profile.
There is a category of SC earned which has, in my case, the status credits from my flights.
Then there is a category called 'others' that has the QF support SC but also the Bonus SC from DSC TravelPass bookings.

Two questions here:
1. I am still waiting for some normal DSC from the March promotion, will they be added under SC earned or the 'others' category?
2. I guess the TravelPass DSC count for the rollover too, as I technically earned them? I was wondering if just everything in the SC earned category will roll over but not the TravelPass DSC ones from the 'other' category.

Did anyone else notice this same error this year?
My renewal date is end of Feb, but there was no change to status credits until today (01APR), but now all my status credits got wiped, none rolled over of the 123 SCs earned last year (on top of the 300 gifted SC).
My overall status continued another year though (gold)
Confused...

This is exactly what happened to me - but I'm WP! Still no rollover. They also stuffed up my points club calculation by wiping all the points I earned in March when they wiped my SC.

Do you have a March membership year? There have been some comments in this thread that people who retained status in their own right (myself included) are still waiting for the status credit rollover:

- Earn 60,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

I was a Feb membership year (which is why it was weird it was a month late). On 8 April they rolled over my ~500 credits, but they still haven't fixed up my Points Club earn for the year which is now missing about 20,000 points...
