On a Sydney Adelaide return next month, thought I'd go in and see if I could select a meal, it did let me have the usual selection, so will report back.

Vegetarian meals on all domestic flights

Following a clear message from our customers, we will be increasing our vegetarian meals on our domestic services. During COVID we simplified our economy meal offering on all domestic flights under 3.5 hours – this included a vegetarian meal on many flights, but not all. In the coming weeks, we’ll start carrying vegetarian options on all flights. We’ll also reintroduce fresh fruit on board, which was paused during COVID. We’re also in the middle of a broader refresh of the menu on domestic flights, including introducing new vegetarian options. Phil Capps, our Executive Manager for Qantas Product and Service said: “We’ve heard the message loud and clear about having vegetarian meals on all of our flights and so we’re making that change as a priority. There’s a lot of work happening to get Qantas back to its best and that includes listening to the feedback from our customers as we keep investing in our product and service.”
Get ready to have plates filled with coriander and kale to appease the vegetarians. Want that chicken curry in business class? How about some olives and coriander and we call it a day? Also I notice nowhere are they talking about reintroducing other catering items that were paused due to COVID such as PDB in J. Surely they'd want to cater to those customers, especially with Virgin working their hardest to woo away customers from the roo!

Anyone knows this Jon Dee? If only he could tweet about award tickting issue, maybe qantas would do something about it.
I don’t but I know various people personally who do - should I give a try?

Does the Lindt chocolate ball (and bar) as well as the non-toasted sourdough still fall under vegetarian? I always wondered whether I could bring on board my Qantas rewards store toaster 😂

Just to add to this discussion, I've just made a booking for January next year. The notification of no vegetarian meal being available on some of the flights is there for myself, which I expected. But there is also a notification that the diabetic option is not available for Ms Cognac.

Not having these options is just doing my head in.

Given we are just two weeks after the initial announcement and a *full* new menu has just been released which includes plant-based meats and vegetarian options… anyone else think this was all a bit of a marketing ploy?

For example the story about ending vegetarian meals was picked up by outlets such as SBS that might not otherwise run articles promoting a new QF menu. Now they will also likely publish an update to the original.

No I don’t.
I think the story was picked up due to the viral tweet by the infrequent flyer.
It fed into the media narrative at the time surrounding “match fit” passengers, QF lost baggage, QF delays and cancellations etc etc etc.

Had there not been significant publicity surrounding the customer service issues the viral tweet would have done nothing IMHO.
