I'm not 100% but are you talking about sentosa island area?

Gardens by the Bay, (South section IIRC?)

Hotels easy walk- marina bay sands, Fullerton and Fullerton bay, conrad, pan pacific, mandarin oriental, mandarin marina, fairmont, swissotel and raffles. May have forgotten a few smaller ones. Maybe the Naumi?

Most will require transport (its gardens by the bay) so just grab a hotel near a MRT station (which is pretty much most of them)

  • Alight at Bayfront MRT Station (CE1)
  • Take Exit B and follow the underground linkway
  • Exit and cross the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge into Gardens by the Bay

My personal suggestions, after chain loyalties, would be the Fullerton through a virtuoso agent. We have (at least) one here and I can pm you the details of my one in Canada (she was the best of 2 locals and 1 random off the Internet) if you are interested.

The Fullerton is a beautiful old building with great service and the Straits lounge is one of the best I've been to.

It's a short walk to the Gardens and MBS casino mall and less than 5 min from the main MRT lines of green and red.

As far as hotels go I can recommend the Ritz Carlton Milennia. Right across the bay from Marina Bay Sands and a short walk across the bridge.
And the beds are the most comfortable in which I've ever slept it. Ever.

I hope you slept well, an average nights rate is more than the airfare being paid!

Hahahahaahhaahahahaha
I actually got a reasonably good deal last time through Flight Centre which was $600 for two nights (reasonable compared to their rack rates lol not in absolute terms) which was just their standard room then fortunately got upgraded to a marina bay view.
Unfortunately plane upgrades (on any airline) for me seem to be significantly more scarce. As in like, never.

That is a pretty good rate as the Hilton goes for about $200 and the Conrad for about $240 per night

This is good to hear! First time in SIN (booking these flights) and I was told to book here by a colleague - what I saved on flights I spent on accommodation. Booked through HotelClub - they had a bonus Velocity promo going on. I'm preparing myself for it to take a year for the points to post, but that's another story (and another thread) . . .

Thanks anyone, finally getting closer to finalising a bkg. Just waiting to find out about the Virtuoso from Cynicor.

Nizar, will we get the QF points (per stay or per night?) just by bkg direct w' the hotel?

Per night would be nice but no its per stay.
You can book on the Qantas Hotels website or alternatively on the hotels website, though if the latter it often won't be their cheapest rate.

LOL, some corporate rates are more ammenible, but it is an expensive property ;)

Something I always use when travelling is Trip Advisor (TA).
Singapore Hotels: Compare 276 Hotels in Singapore, with 84,830 Reviews | TripAdvisor

I will be trying out the Pan Pacific for my next trip* Has anybody stayed at the Pan Pacific before ? Any comments/feedback ? Would you stay there again ?

*Only because they are offering 2,000 bonus QFF points per stay ! And they rank reasonable well on TA.

Pan Pacific was nice and that was prior to them closing for their renovations last year. Must be amazing now, but my folks said the wait for an elevator (in non club rooms) was horrendous. The club and higher floors have their own set of elevators and we didn't have that issue.

I prefer it to the Conrad in Singapore, but still rank the Fullerton and Fairmont higher. Fullerton for overall experience and Fairmont for being as good but a better location

Like a couple of others here I would prefer to spend my $$ on flights rather than hotel rooms. Though I will admit that $70/night (AUD?) does leave you with a very basic room. However at $120 you can find a quite clean and modest sized room. Just no pool, gym, bar or fancy restaurant. And there is nothing preventing you from choosing a restaurant that is fancier than your hotel room.

If you have the time, there is the opportunity for some inexpensive 3K flights to build the miles and SC even further.

Happy wandering

Fred

The accom that is about $70 per night is not somewhere I'd want to be staying.
There is nothing wrong with it. Don't listen to some of the rubbish you read on the internet. That can happen anywhere.

I have never had anything other than clean rooms, clean bedsheets, clean towels, comfortable beds and friendly service. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

That TR might have been the one I did http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ip-photos/week-sin-two-hotels-free-49071.html

We stayed at the Fullerton Bay Hotel......heaps of pictures in the TR. We loved our stay & look forward to many more.
