I just tried a PER-SIN return for a mate and found the same thing... almost 800 GBP return .. pass!

Are using google chrome to translate? For some reason it translates "Brazilian Reals" into "British Pounds". If you go back to the original portuguese version you will see that 800 GBP is actually 800 BRL or ~400 AUD.

It was about 2700 BRL -> ~$1300 AUD

I am a new member and has been reading this thread and discussions on other sites with interest.

I have seen many people booking on the website but not seen anyone reporting back after their trip that they did/ did not have any troubles specially as there is mention that the Expedia Brazil site may not be charging the Fuel Surcharge.

Has anyone successfully completed trips they booked on Expedia Brazil?

Thanks

Sometimes "no news is good news" ;)

Many people have booked and flown these quite successfully.

I have done it once just recently - simple BNE-SYD-SIN-BNE booking for just over $400 or so (after converting from Brazilian Real).

Only main complication I had was at booking. First time I hit the booking button on Expedia Brazil, it came back invalid. But I checked my card account a day or so later (28 Degrees Mastercard) and part of the ticket had been charged. Called the company and they said that they had blocked a suspicious transaction. I told them it was OK, so they ensured that any further transactions from the merchants in question will proceed (there are two charges - one from Expedia Brazil, and another from Qantas). I then called Expedia Brazil and - after asking the agent if they could speak English (and they could) - I got them to cancel the transaction which had failed, refunding the partial charge. Then I tried booking my ticket again with the same card and it worked.

So the takeaway message is that if your credit card company may be slightly fraud-trigger-happy, call them in advance and tell them you have a couple of transactions from Brazil coming up.

Other than that, got my confirmation from Expedia Brazil, printed that (the confirmation is, of course, in Portuguese). Go to Qantas website, put in the Qantas reference according to the confirmation email, print the result, select seats. The rest of the booking - from check-in to flying and crediting of points and status credits afterwards, played out exactly like any other Qantas booking.

Does Qantas send you an eTicket via email for bookings through Expedia like they do for bookings done on their website? If not how do I retrieve the eTicket? Just paranoid! I have not got an eTicket (the one with the barcode on the top right) but only got a confirmation email from Expedia.

Thanks

Log into your QF account and enter the QF booking reference from Expedia and you should be able to do all from there

If you do not have your QF booking number (5-6 characters and mix of numbers and letters) then log into expedia.br using your email address and your itinerary number and it should be there.

I do have a QF number. I am able to log into the Qantas site and look the reservation up and choose seats, etc. However, when I book on the Qantas site they send me an email with the eTickets attached. I didn't get one for this. Would this mean that the reservation is somehow incomplete and liable to be cancelled?

No Not atall all should be good have had no issues with br flights and about to do my 7th trip with them and have made many bookings for friends using br with no issues

Thanks.

My understanding is, as long as if appears on your QFF My Bookings page then you are good to go.

Once the ticket number is generated you have an eTicket. What Qantas send is an eTicket itinerary & receipt, the actual eTicket is just that - an electronic record. Many travel agents and airlines have different names "eTicket receipt" being common this, and different formats that won't look exactly like Qantas's version the important think is having a valid ticket number and Qantas booking reference. The itinerary I have from expedia had all the necessary info - flight dates/times, Qantas booking reference, ticket numbers and cost. The thing that is missing is all the pages of information about luggage allowances and check in times!

Thanks.

When did you make the booking? My understanding is that e-tickets usually take a day or two to be received (something about them having to be checked/double checked). I could be wrong about this though.

As long as it is my bookings on QF, I never bother with rest. I don'y need any unnecessary paperwork!

I heard someone say (somewhere else maybe?) earlier that with these .br flights, you should "web check in" or something first rather than just rock up at the airport.
Me and a bunch of mates are leaving on Thursday, and this'll be the first of these flights that I've taken- should I just rock up at the airport or is there some process I should follow?

Thanks in advance!

An actual Qantas E-Ticket states this:
This is your E-Ticket Itinerary & Receipt.

  • You must bring it with you to the airport for check-in, and it is recommended you retain a copy for your records.
  • Each passenger travelling needs a printed copy of this document for immigration, customs, airport security checks and duty free purchases.
There are airports in the world that will not let you even get to check-in without it. Or something similar. Hopefully, in such cases, the Expedia (coughpy) confirmation will be enough.

I've not understood why another copy of a Qantas E-Ticket is not available even if booked on qantas.com

Best of luck at some of the world's airports (even in my recent experience). And your information is NOT what Qantas states on their E-Tickets.

At Syd, apart from on Scoot, have never been asked for ticket/confirmation, albeit always have a paper copy with electronic copy on Google drive and local sync to phone.

As mentioned above would not try this in India or China where without a printed ticket you probably won't even get inside the terminal.

As for online check in. Only real purpose in Y without status would be ability to use bag drop queue rather than check in queue
