Happy to be corrected, but I believe the answer is no on both counts.

With the cheapest tickets, you cannot change the name on the booking to another passenger, even if you pay a fee.

If you cancel the ticket, more than likely the booking will credit into a shell, but then only you can utilise the credit shell for another booking.

If you had a ticket booked with QF instead of with Expedia Brazil, that would normally be the go on the cheapest tickets.

I would not anticipate it to be quite simple to cancel into a credit shell and re-use the shell later with Expedia Brazil unless you speak fluent Portuguese. You may need a lot of patience and some luck.

It really is no different to cancelling with QF. I may just have been lucky but I have been able to get agents who speak English and understand what I want on my first call each time the 6 times I have called. They will cancel and put it in to a credit shell. The fees are as if they were booked through QF, I am pretty sure Expedia Brazil doesn't add anything on. So should be $100 to cancel in to the shell and $100 to rebook.

Nope, price hadn't changed on QF.com

The $800ish QF sale fare from MEL-BKK had ended which is why the cheap fare from BR disappeared.

A new sale (Chinese New Year sale) had started for SIN which is why you can still get cheap fares to SIN although SIN seems to be permanently on sale these days.

Wait for another sale to BKK and use BR then to book.

SYD-BKK seems to be ~$625 on .br at the moment, whereas SYD-SIN is ~$500 for the same dates. It seems that the lower price for the EK operated flights has disappeared and QF/EK metal are now priced the same.

Interestingly, SYD-PEN was cheaper than SIN at ~$486.

Can I just ask what dates you were referring to?

Wouldn't the BKK loadings be a bit lighter at the moment due to the extreme unrest and on/off elections, might that translate to BKK flts will be on special soon?

I would love to see some specials for September and November now. Ready to commit the spend.

Are you referring to SIN? That appears to be still on special.

The earlier reference was flights to BKK in mid-March.

Yes, I was quoting SIN prices...

FWIW, the exercise has become rather academic for me - I already have far too much travel booked this year.

Looks like a schedule change for 77 from Per. Leaves even earlier at 7:50 now! Gets in practically a whole weekend in SIN considering shops don't open til 11 or 12!

78 doesn't seem to have changed, and I'm not sure when it takes effect. At least by mid march but after the 1st.
