QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

No way the QF J lounge in PER has capacity for two plane loads of pax being in their at the same time. They'll need to ensure they two departures are spaced out. I'd imagine the second flight would need to depart a couple of hours after the first for it to work.

For those wishing to use the F lounge QF still flies a 380 to LAX (if you want to transit in the states) or you should be able to ask to be rebooked on EK in the case of flights to Europe

As an F reward flight and am not P1, I don't expect to be offered a reroute via LAX.
I wouldnt be surprised if you were offered it either. Cancellations don’t require reward seats to be available and I’m sure if you asked for it straight away you could get it, a lot won’t know to ask it via LAX and just accept the downgrade

I hate LAX much more than missing out on F lounge!

But I may have to consider it if Qantas contacts me to reorganise my bookings.
I'd also try your luck at requesting an F lounge invite for the outbound, if you do stick to the same routing in J. Not unheard of to be offered some goodwill here and there, though the scale of this concern & impact is perhaps bigger than their inventory of goodwill could ever address...

Cheers,
Matt.

Thought I'd be proactive, a looong phone wait and no call back offered. Will try again, but they have a recorded msg - about today's changes said to wait until QF contacts us. Ho Hum.

Given the schedule changes haven’t happened yet they’re probably waiting for that

Must say, the timing for the recent DSC offer was executed to perfection.
Yep - all those people booked flights that Qantas "probably" knew it was going to cancel.....
If I'd booked F on QF metal as part of the DSC promo, and then had it cancelled, I would be pretty cranky...

Oh no! Was booked in F on qf 1 towards the end of May, so looks like we will be in business instead, unless they put us on EK... I suppose we will find out in due course, though given it is an award flight we are likely just to be put on the qf flight via perth I expect.

Specifically one that avoids a third country where you just don't know what entry, or even transit, restrictions will suddenly be put in place.
That's exactly my thought. And we were booked on qf1 in F for the end of May. SO looks like we will be in J via perth. Or maybe they will put us on an EK flight.

I'm affected. Am booked to fly SYD<->LHR in F in May. A tad devastated I'll miss out on F on board and I'll also miss trying out the new F lounge in SIN. Be interesting to see what is offered to me instead: J on the rerouted QF1 and QF2 or F on EK or another partner airline (not BA please!)
Me too. My husband is P1 so hopefully he will get a call sooner rather than later with our alternatives. Happy to do EMirates, but frankly would be happy to do J via perth too so as to avoid any extra country's quarantine etc

If they did put you on EK then that would be amazing!

I phoned and waited 50 mins and spoke to a great operator. He had to read quite a lot of info as the change was all new to him of course. I'm now on QF in F JFK - LAX - SYD - CBR. As a schedule change no charge. I was surprised it was so easy. So, if you speak to Sam, he's right up on it now.
