I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.

That is one of the best reports of QF I have ever read. Despite anything you might read in the media, I think real Australians are inherently decent and compassionate people.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. Thank you for taking the time to post and sharing the good experience provided by QF. Bet your father is giving them a run for their money up there - he sounded like he knew how to live every day to the max.

Sorry for your loss.

Stories like this illustrate a number of things, but it shows how well Qantas can do things.

Congrats to QF.

When you are up to it, the Qantas Excel awards may be worth nominating de/all of the staff.

How does one do that? Presumably through the web site. I'll go and look.

Red Roo has sent the OP through to the QF team responsible for training (I believe), with a view to using this experience as an example of how an individual (or group of individuals) can indeed make a big difference under certain circumstances (and they don't all have to be sad circumstances), so I'm happy with the thought that me documenting our good QF experience, can be of some assistance to a big corporation and hopefully, help make for a better travel experience for all of us (even if only in a small way).

Frequent Flyer - About the Program - People's Choice Award

As a postscript to this thread, QF (via AJ's Executive Relations Office) contacted me this week to thank me for posting a public complement (I actually thought the thanks were incumbent upon me, rather than QF) and to advise me that they have identified the QF team responsible for what I consider to be appreciated and humbling empathy and have personally congratulated each of them by way of email, as recognition of a job well done and have nominated them all for the QF Peoples Choice Awards.

I'm happy I played a part in that and I also thank all you Affers who have offered my family and I your condolences. It has been very much appreciated and has certainly made me appreciate far more, this unique and diverse group of people that associate here on a forum because of a common interest/hobby/necessity.

Here's cheers to happy, safe and enjoyable flying!

Thanks for the update. Your story illustrates an overall positive message by way of example, and certainly has been a source of inspiration to many of us at QF.

My condolences for your loss OP, and congratulations to those at Qantas who helped make the day less painful. It is a great example of the value of people to a company. Thank you for posting the story and I am glad to hear the employees are receiving the accolades they so obviously deserve. Best wishes to your family at this difficult time.

Just completed status run CNS/BNE/AKL/SYD/CNS on the little 737/800, the breakfast quiche's were simply excellent, the J service from FA's so pleasant and helpful, the lounge in AKL was well stocked and plenty of room for all, well done Qantas :).
