Qantas theft from luggage

Some people do love the place, just look at the # of pax flying out of JQ's ADL - DPS service, or the VAi one.
Guess its the cheapest place to fly to from ADL & other parts of Aust, cheap to spend hols, and the people over there who do the "winkie" know this.
Its a pity, that "that happened" to the OP, and if you watch other net channels, things that also happen to honest travellers.
But the misbehaviours of tourists, also gives tourists a bad name, maybe this is why crime occurs so prevelently over there, too.
Youtube is my friend, travel wise.
Its an eye opener.

Wow... See this thread for the definition of Mobbing...
Can not blame the OP for not returning...
Some people are so sad.

If your bag was put into a clear bag, then it would've been over packed and then burst open. If you lost an item, it's probaly lost due to the bag breaking.
With out going into too much detail, the baggage staff wouldn't have a clue what you packed into your bag. Why would they pick only yours?
Did you actually read the OP? Because if you did then you'd know the lost item was a separate bag that was zipped inside the outer bag. So not only did the other bag burst open... somehow. But the zip inside also undid itself, as if by magic...

If you don't understand the process that are involved to get a bag from check-in to the aircraft and who is involved, then I really don't care.
The possibility of a ramp staff member knowing what is inside a suitcase is near impossible. Then for them to target that ONE bag out of hundreds of others for one airline, which is inside another bag, doesn't seem reasonable.

Also I've been critical of Qantas many of times, you choose to read your own narrative.

Do they xray every bag, HLO and also plane hold luggage at security at the very first point of entry of pax to DPS airport?
If so, it "might" be that someone at the initial security screening point at DPS, is a mole, and has passed on info on what is inside a certain bag.

Ignore my ignorance, but I didn't believe that any domestic checked baggage was x-rayed?

Sorry.
Departing from any Indo airport, I mean.

For Aust dom flights, and Aust dom sec screening, for HLO, they have the propensity to push or move your HLO onto secondary, if they feel something needs to be looked at indepth, and this is where, someone can take your bag, if you are not looking at the system in place.
This is where they ask you to (in MEL) to stand behind the bunging, while they open your bag and look for the sus item.
Sometimes, on rare occasions, even if your HLO goes into secondary, they will let you go without opening and searching.
Probably they get more security fees from your airline fare by the bag going to/into secondary.
With the new system, your view is blocked by the fact you have to stand akimbo, and you might need a patdown, also then giving some people the chance to take your bag, rater in Aust but probably prevalent overseas.
Int into Aust, flights, supposedly, also they (ABF) xrays every incoming hold luggage bags, but this is downstairs, prior to it coming out the chute where bag collection is.

Youtube/Reddit: "how your checked bags are treated in Indonesia".
Even while removing or putting bags onto the plane, the video shows your bags are already being looked into.
Not by security staff mind you.
Most likely taken by a baggage attendant who has some scruples.

It is not the first time someone registers to come in for a vent with all guns blazing, and does not bother to return to add any value to the initial post.

FWIW, it’s a pretty big accusation to make without any credible evidence that it was a QF staffer that stole the items, considering there are a number of other parties involved at an airport.

Agree.

It would also seem from the scant information provided, the OP most likely had prohibited items in his checked luggage so he was setting himself up for trouble from the outset. This seems to overlooked by many who are sharing their opinions on here.
