Qantas to fast track airline loyalty program status

To be clear, I'm not trying to derail the thread. My aim is just to alert VA status pax thinking of jumping ship that VA has something in the pipeline.
Something for their own (VA) elites? I feel it is a bit late for VA to offer anything to its loyal members - as a VA WP their communication has been non-existent. I think it is a very smart move by QF.

I would have thought that Velocity's offer would be a status match for QF elites wanting to join VA (but I doubt many would be interested)

Time will tell I guess

There is a thread VA Status Extensions that others are report that VA is not having any issues handing out a further 12 month extension. Most seem to be those that had already retained their current status prior to VAs general extension and it was no benefit to them. VA extend me to 2022 without any issue.

No doubt VA will offer something.

Time will tell I agree, basically at the moment it is really hard because Bain/VA2 have cut a lot of frequencies so hard they are almost unusable - but we don't know if that is temporary or long term, Tasmania being point in case - where now QF is really the only option for for the type of flying my company does.

I'm having a similar dilemma to you. My most frequent route is SYD-CBR and at the moment VA simply do not fly it and it's quite unclear what their future offering and the future of CBR lounge will be.
For me, doing the status match with QF is about hedging my bets. I don't particularly want to abandon VA, but if they don't fly where I need to go then there won't be much choice.

ok, obviously personal for you then.
can't be too bad if your still WP though for that long.
Not personal, to me VA is just another domestic option. Retaining VA status is relatively easy and in my situation I have to remember to take the 8 VA fights. A single family trip to SIN gets you almost over the line, most of my VA SCs came from the likes of SQ/ DL but who knows what will happen with these. The family pooling and getting SC from Coles makes the task even easier.

No details were provided. But the QF pitch to VA status pax was referred to as "cheeky" and that VA would respond "in a few days".

and I didn't mean to stoke the fire. I shall do my whinging and kicking over in the "VA offers QF elites status match" thread, the details of which we'll await with bated breath.

Last time that I looked, this thread was called “Qantas to fast track airline loyalty program status”.

Now it’s become a VA thread. 🤣

ha and

the negativity re; Virgin continues, kick'em while there're down, true aussie spirit.

Biggest pack of wingers here. very poor IMO.

oh I'd fly QF to get a 'snack' oh yeah! TBH 2 minute noodles better than most of the useless sugar filled snacks anyway.

3 lounges = false.

skeleton crew, yep pretty rich coming day after QF just sacked 2000 employees.

thin international alliances, yes oh so handy atm, which alliance partner you flown recently?? Virgin will announce these in due course well before any chance of flying OS.

I thought the poms were bad, but true Aussie Red Kangaroo colors coming out of late.
Normal unbiased flyers would think saving an airline & 1000's of jobs & for competition would be beneficial, alas not here in @Aff world.

kick'em while there down, great Aus culture.

I am a CBR based VAWP so no-one wants VA to succeed more than me. But you have drawn some odd conclusions. No-one is kicking them because they're down - more of a hopeful kick up the bum maybe. If you're happy to fly the current VA then good luck to you. I can't imagine the QF elites would share your enthusiasm and I would think that appealing to "fly the aussie job saver/battler airline" isn't going to influence their choice either. If they weren't interested in VA prior to covid, why would they be now?

I'm pretty bitter that I've put 10 years of VA SG/WP when I could have been working toward QFF LT status. So speak for yourself, but I'm happy to stick the boot in a bit lmao.

Submitted evening of Monday 30 November.
Interesting. I submitted on Tuesday the 1st but haven't heard anything yet - Noting that only 1 full business day has passed so I'm not surprised. I wonder if we will receive a formal rejection should we not be successful or whether we will just get radio silence.

I submitted Tuesday morning as well and was wondering the same thing, would be good to at least get a proper response one way or the other. That way I'll know if I should book some Qantas flights or just stick to Virgin for now.

If they let me know quickly I've actually got upcoming flights that I would happily shift from VA to QF, so if anyone from QFF stumbles across this thread....

I’m sure they’re overwhelmed with applications so I wouldn’t expect such a swift response. I’m sure either way they’d let us know whether we’re successful or not.

Approved just now. Have to respond and nominate the start of my 90 days allowing for 10 days to activate the temporary upgrade. Time to get planning!

I nominated my date on Tuesday afternoon and heard back this afternoon.

I assume I haven't been matched. I submitted on Friday 27th. VA Platinum, but half my status comes from my partner when we travel together. Most of my flying is international, so they may not want to match me at this time. I have emailed them but radio silence.
