Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

These two will have learned from their rejections
That is true, but I reckon the trial failed because 2 people didn't know the group they were in.
The trial is about the procedure and processes of group boarding. Obviously there will always be people who are NFI, but the trial needs to be such that everyone is clear about their boarding group.

I was not there but was the boarding group repeatedly announced and displayed
?

@JessicaTam already noted that numerous announcements were made and some people ignored them anyway or claimed not to hear.

The world is full of people who don't listen, read signs or follow instructions. It is great if they are now being turned away and sent to the back of the queue - eventually that forces them to pay attention.

I think boarding should be in reverse alphabetical order with priority given to those pax with 3 or more carry on bags. Children to be held at the gate and board only once all the adults (incl their parents ) have been seated.

Has anyone here experienced Qantas "organized" Sydney domestic boarding lately?
I don't want to cause a fuss, but my daughter and I travelling tomorrow to HBA, I am WP, she is Bronze, separate tickets, but sitting together row 3.
Do I bring her forward with me, and just say she is with me, or do not cause a scene, just board with her group.

Infinite and everlasting humiliation should be part of it as well.
All of those acts are intentional and done with explicit purpose - to obtain a benefit that they're not entitled to.
These people intentionally leave their house, go to the airport, pass through security ... but do not intend to board at the wrong time? 😂 Once a liar, always a liar.
If it affects their mental health, they deserve it.
They cause harm to society, no reason why they shouldn't be on the receiving end of harm 😂

I hope they also turn up the announcement volume, so it's not just an unintelligible mumble as is often the case.

If they ever bring it in to HBA, any volume would be futile - its competing against the whole departure open space, usually filled with hundreds of people, and nearby food & bev services. No gate lounges here. The crowding at the gates also make signage dodgy - but this is the airport's fault, not the airlines'.

Now a really good feature would be that the system not only rejects them, but changes their boarding group to 6 (or even create a new group 7 - reserved for attempted queue jumpers) that only gets called when everyone else is in.

What is the official and unofficial rule of priority boarding as a status holder, while travelling with other non-status-holding family/friend(s)?

Exactly. It will take some time for some people to get used to :)

Well Mrsdrron as WP always takes me into the J lounge and priority boarding lane when I am a bronze LTQP.

However, once the new system is fully rolled out unless you are on a PNR booked by MrsDrRon then you wont be able to board together if you do not qualify for the same boarding group on your own.

Yes you can. If they are doing the trial boarding tell the gate agent you are travelling together and they will override the system for your daughter.

Actually if you are in row 3 you are in J so you all board first anyway .

They are only trying to discourage whole groups of non status friends boarding early. One person is fine.

And announce it in the PA system as well??🤣🤣

Yep, this definitely at HBA. No real order whatsover.

Won't last. BA used to as well when first rolled out, but doesn't bother anymore as too difficult to deal with sending someone away. I see this at most carriers I've flown with... other than QR.

All Y plane, as WP I had option of row 3, but daughter did not, so rang up and had her seat moved to next to me.
Both in row 13 on the way back on Monday. 2/3 seating configuration.
My boarding pass does not have a "group" number on it. Will find out daughters group when we pick her up in the next hour or so.
She has 3 days of conference, I have 3 days of leisure.
