Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

In June i have a trip with 3 NBs, all on same PNR booked by me a WP. It will be interesting to see if we can board together.

2/3 of them are hopeless with technology if not same boarding group (I usually have their BPs on my phone) then I am going to have to insist the lounge print BPs for them so i can board first to get bin space.

I know Mrs Beano (NB) can board with me in Group 1. Sometimes if you are on the same PNR the other parties are also in the same Group. Perhaps others have more experience with this.

It's been consistent(!) for me that being on the same booking gives them group 1 also - as advertised when they started group boarding.
On the one occasion where we were on separate bookings, it was "linked" in the lounge and a refresh later provided the bump from group 6 to 1.

Slightly off topic but related - I recently boarded JL507 in HND bound for CTS with Mr Sest 0A on the same PNR. Both travelling business. I’m OWE (QF WP) while he is only LTG. Groups were called to board one by one. I was Group 1 he was Group 2 and it was enforced thst he could not board with me. I went ahead in my group because I wanted to be sure of getting luggage space in the overhead locker as many Japanese travel HLO.

We were allowed to board QF 25 together departing SYD ( both allocated Group 1 on our BP).

Interesting. Last year I was BA gold and Mrsdrron LTG on QF. On our 12 JL flights taken since she dropped to LTG, including HND-CTS-HND in J, she was always in group 1 with me.

Mrs Beano and I were on the same PNR on an Iberia flight. They let us board together in Group 1 but security said she was not entitled to go through the fast track lane to enter the departure area, but let her through anyway. She did not have group 1 on her BP, which I thought was mean seeing it was the same PNR.

You will - the boarding group of the highest status pax on the booking will be granted to the others.

Same here. We had separate bookings and my companion had group 4. They were linked at the lounge and she was bumped into group 1. On the return leg, I was able to check us both in through my booking and we had the same boarding group.

Qantas tried to do a group boarding here in WA on the QantasLink flights... for the FIFO workers.

That worked for all of 3 seconds when the first 5 guys ahead of me got the red buzz. They quickly gave up and just opened it up for all groups when they quickly realised its not going to work 🤣

Surprised they weren't all Group 1

To be fair were they expecting FIFO workers to count to 5?

(I can say this as an ex-FIFO worker 😉)
