Qantas to Launch SYD-AKL-JFK (June 2023)

Sort of…

“When the RV x Qantas partnership is officially announced tomorrow at an intimate lunch at the airline’s Mascot headquarters, Vallance will also unveil two dresses featuring the Waldorf-Astoria-inspired print that adorns the pyjamas and amenity kits. Qantas frequent-flyer members who purchase an item through Qantas marketplace will automatically go into the draw to win one of the frocks, which feature hand-beaded bodices, sunray pleats (which reflect the hotel’s grand pillars) and diamante and velvet belts.”
What do you mean by sort of ?
The dress pictured is the same print as the inflight kit and pjs.

I didn’t read it that way and took it that the new design dresses would be launched at 11.30am (but could be wrong) - I’m certainly no fashionista

Its definitely the same print even if it’s not the exact dress that will be given away, hence the marketing picture with the model.

There’s already a dress on the QF marketplace with that print.

Probably because you are asking why you aren’t!
Well as Groucho ( I think) said: "I wouldn't belong to any club that would have me as a member".
Edit 😀

I'd say Princess means the part of the market that cares about the designer, knows who she is, already has a frock or three of her in their wardrobes - or aspires to!
Sure - but how big is the market where people make travel decisions based on the designer PJs? Clearly I'm not part of THAT market 🤣

All marketing buzz serves the larger purpose of keeping Qantas in the news, especially for things that don't involve delayed flights or lost luggage.

While RooFlyer may not be in the market for the designer's dresses, perhaps dress-wearers in his family or friends will hear about this and comment about Qantas positively - leading to an overall positive feeling about the airline. This might increase the chance that RooFlyer books on Qantas in the future, perhaps even choosing business class and snagging some of the jammies for those designer-following friends. Or he may not know about the pajamas at all, but hearing a well-dressed woman comment positively on Qantas' association with the designer improves brand recognition in general. The point is that you don't have to be directly in the target market for this kind of promotion to improve positive feelings about the organisation, which is what they're going for. The same with Neil Perry and the food - no one really books Qantas for his lettuce leaves specifically, but the association with a celebrity brand raises Qantas' stature overall and invokes positive feelings.

It’s nothing to do with a “club” very little marketing encompasses everyone..

Don’t feel so upset because this one wasn’t aimed at you..
Aw, c'mon you can recognise humour ( at least attempted) at my own expense can't you? I'll go back and out some 😀 in.

personally, I think an airline engaging and a very expensive designer to produce some limited-edition fancy printed, probably China made PJ’s is utterly utterly ridiculous. Just get the damn aeroplane I’ve paid to be on where it should be, on time.
