Qantas own their current terminal don't they? what will be the $$$ exchanged.

I had thought that the land that it sits on at least belongs to Perth Airport Pty?

The train is useless to the Qantas terminal with a bus ride after. That must have been WA gov revenge. Also at Q you have 6minutes to drop off and collect people, you have to move very fast, chuck in luggage and passengers (encourages speeding). If its busy and you can't get through the barriers in 6 minutes its $10 thanks very much.

I am waiting for someone with a disability sticker on their car to sue the airport authority for the 6 minute limit.
With a wheelchair etc 15 minutes may not be enough

I always go to the short term parking area, which is roughly in the middle of the terminal, and you have free entry for 10 minutes to drop off a passenger with no hassle. You pick up a card from a machine at the entry, where your car plate is recorded, and then use the same card on exiting.

Not at the Virgin terminal yet. I nearly got caught as pedestrians were ignoring the crossing lights so I couldn't proceed without wiping out a few.

It is leased by Qantas and was sold back to the airport. It was one of the various commercial matters that were resolved during all the negotiations.

Noticed that the Qantas route map has both Perth-Johannesburg and Perth-Auckland launching in "mid-2025" ... good signs!

Consider that the route map shows the seasonal Sapporo service that starts in December this year - I don't like your chances of anything new ex PER.

The underlying fee simple owner of the land is the Commonwealth of Australia, who owns most major airports nationwide.

The Commonwealth have entered into a 99-year lease with Perth Airport Pty Ltd which began on 1 July 1997 and therefore has about 72 years left. For most practical purposes, Perth Airport, and the other airport lease holders, act similarly to a landowner, when it comes to managing improvements like terminals etc. But the lease does reserve certain powers to the Commonwealth - in particular the Commonwealth Airports Act 1996 which requires a Master Plan to be submitted to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development for approval every five years.

Many smaller airports started out as Commonwealth assets and are now owned by local councils although there some notable exceptions. Avalon was completely sold, not leased, to Linfox and Wellcamp-Toowoomba has been in private ownership from the start. The joint civilian/ADF airports are another category that seems to vary a bit (i.e. Darwin is managed under the Commonwealth Airports Act but Williamtown/Newcastle is not).

The biggest complaint of VA’s CNS-HND was that 7hrs in a rubbish narrow body is hell yet PER-AKL in a rubbish narrow body that will be close to 7hrs is fine

Don't really need to mention what happened to CNS-HND...

I gather, if QF doesn't role out an international configured A321, there will be similar complaints.
