I am guessing I don't need this declaration on return from NLK, and it's just a QF quirk in manage my booking?

It’s a quirk as is the thing saying you don’t earn tier points and there’s no food

also if anyone is not travelling on an Australian passport, expect to get stopped by “immigration” as apparently the Norfolk flights upset the computer for those on visas

Yep, no declaration needed. In fact if you fill one out it'll tell you that hotel quarantine may be needed because the system is set up that way.

Any experience on what the J catering is like BNE-NLK?

Out bound was a pasty or this salad- I went for the salad trying to be helpful (as figured the pasty would probably be more popular) and there ended up being a run on the sald (oops!). Anyway, it was very nice

inbound was a lamb mousakka or pork sausages with mash- sausages looked a bit anaemic. I was happy with my choice thus

I am flying nlk-syd on the way back in Y then on to mel via CBR on what I suspect will be a very empty flight..

This implies you need to treat yourself as international passenger?

Air New Zealand flights depart and arrive via international terminals, do international movement conditions apply?
Yes, your travel experience will be similar to an international traveller. You must complete an incoming passenger card, and you and your luggage will be screened and could be inspected by Australian Border Force and Biosecurity officers.

Correct, you don’t need to.

That web site needs to be updated ......

It’s kind of awkward. It’s an international flight in terms of customs and quarantine (as in AQIS not COVID) but a domestic flight in terms of immigration

And of course VIC had to make NLK a 'red' zone now, for the virtue of having a NSW postcode.
Now will have to cancel my NLK trip..

Yon can always go to Queenstown, plenty of cheap flights all year round, I would even pay cash for it. Norfolk flights are expensive.

Wait, please don't book, Norfolk sucks (me searching for hotels on the island 😈)
Just noted NZ needs negative Covid test, so NZ is off too for now.

Beauracracy gone mad!
I blame that on the people making the rules not knowing any better.

Back in the early days of post covid travel to Norfolk Island (I'm talking Jul-Oct last year) many states considered Norfolk Island to be overseas. I called the health departments back then from each state to get their position on Norfolk Island and Christmas/Cocos Islands travel.

Back in October last year NSW, ACT and VIC didn't lock anyone out. QLD was the only state that had specific Norfolk information. South Australia was the worst, when you filled out an entry pass and selected Norfolk Island you got a response telling you that you needed to hotel quarantine. The phone staff said you could take that up with police upon arrival if you wished (no idea how that'd go down).

Obviously, times have now changed...
SA now lists Norfolk Island separately and most other states consider them separate except WA and clearly now Victoria.

I wonder if their postcode will change to a 4xx_ one now that QLD is taking over responsibility for the island?

Beauracracy gone mad!
I've called the vic covid line to get clarity to see whether this is an oversight/mistake, they said only the CHO can say if that is a mistake or not and they sent a feedback request in for someone to call me back. It was a green zone up until last night, with the rest of NSW a red or orange zone.
Just doesn't make sense.

I doubt it... given the postcode is meant to be only important for mail, changing it could cause a few problems. Obviously, in this funny covid world it seems a postcode is also important in other ways.
