Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

A lot of people all over the world have access to these seats through one world carriers whose frequent flyer site is so much better than Qantas'. If it was Qantas' idea to give these seats to Australian's then it is a fail, if it is to give these to everyone in the world then it has been a success.

Biggest takeaway is that other frequent flyer programs and systems are better at getting you QF seats.

i crashed twice at payment page and now have two bookings under 'my booking' that i haven't paid for. does anyone know how to pay for them online? i can't find 'pay' option online. credit card wasn't charged both times when site crashed so i know that booking isn't confirmed.

Am trying to find some new Oneworld award routes. Any advice on what to use now the Oneworld interactive map seems to have disappeared? The flight connections site seems limited e.g. oneworld flights from manila gives only a few nearby options

The sooner the rest of the business world follows this the sooner Qantas will wake up and reap what they have sewed. Virgin Business Class is better than Qantas anyway IMHO. And wit international, Qatar, British Airways and many more offer a better product.

M
Will Qantas wake up? I am not sure.

Many others others are at least as good IMHO so I agree that on most occasions it's not worth the wasted time and effort.

What a cluster F*#! 🤬🤬🤬
Was on the phone & told my booking (first class award QF1) was auto cancelled. WTF!!!!
They could search the booking reference and when they did it had no destination?
Obviously no first class awards around the same time any more as well :mad:

Unfortunately you'll have to call them up and hope you get a competent agent who knows how to properly calculate the costs, and put it through your CC over the phone. Make sure you do this soon before the reservation auto-cancels.

I crashed out on the payment page of a SIN-SYD J flight that I had but I called up to pay as I had a booking reference and it looks like it is ticketed. Hold time was roughly 15 minutes and eventually got through to Suva. It still took nearly 30 minutes to process it. They also mentioned that there would be no reward assistance fee.

I then tried to change a CGK-SYD in J to a different SIN-SYD in J and I got the ridiculous “the new seats are only available for new bookings” spiel. So I knew to HUCA.

Before I hung up though I noticed that a reward assistance fee of 7,700 hit my account (despite what I was told). There was lots of back and forth and I asked to speak to a supervisor. Eventually after a few more holds, she said she would call back once she had worked through it with the support

Amazingly, I actually got a call 15 minutes later to tell me that I have been refunded.

I then called back to change the CGK-SYD to SIN-SYD. Based on the accent, I suspect it was Hobart or Auckland. She was very helpful and was able to change it straight away.

Happy days

Was trying to book this morning, took about 2-3 hours to get through with the website constantly crashing. Managed to get SYD <> HKG with Cathay in Business, ticketed and confirmed.

An hour or so later when I went to do my seat select, SYD > HKG was missing. Called Qantas, 90 minutes wait, and they said Cathay had oversold, likely due to latency between the two inventory platforms, sigh. They said Cathay have cancelled the ticket, but I haven't received any information, and I should receive my cash and points in 7 days. Anyone experienced this before? I'm a bit wary with Qantas and their refund experience.

I did see Cathay's availability at 9am but was hoping for some seats on Qantas' A380, guess I rolled the dice and lost. I guess I can try get a ticket in Premium Economy, should be okay travelling with a 6 month old right? haha

Could be worth a fight… QF can open seats on their own metal.

I managed to speak to someone who took my card details, tried to charge the assistance fee however backed down and said they’ve queued it for ticketing. I’m assuming it’s less likely to auto cancel given payment details are attached.

Edit: 2 of mine have autocancelled (I didn’t chase these) however the one they took the manual details for is sitting there unticketed.

Completely agree.

See lots of people on American blogs gloating that they picked up 2x F seats on MEL/SYD-LAX for a cool 110K AA each.

Uh oh. Sounds like we have a similar problem gojun. I’ve already cancelled my pe flights based on confirmed e ticket from qantas. Will be interesting to see where this goes

My friend said I should rock up on the day with my confirmation e-ticket demanding a seat, I can't imagine that playing well at all.

What are your plans now?

If they refunded you the points and credit card then you have no leg to stand on

Did you actually get a e ticket from Qantas already, and credit card charged for taxes and fees?

I intend to fight them over it.
I have a SQ first class award from London to Melbourne the following week that was booked a couple of months ago.
I would have had first class awards to and from Europe and used up most of my Qantas points at the same time.
Luckily I do have a Qatar business award flight to Europe

Well blow me over, now have ticketed 2xJ SIN-MEL in late oct, looked like a bit of availability. Now just looking to get to SIN mid/late oct from somewhere in Europe, pity all the QR fares have disappeared, might have to pickup a revenue fare.

No e-ticket only a booking reference.
Credit card not charged. Website crashed when still on the payment page.
This is a Qantas F@#K UP
