Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

No e-ticket only a booking reference.
Credit card not charged. Website crashed when still on the payment page.
This is a Qantas F@#K UP

Staff member advised everything was correct in the booking except there was no attached credit card (so it wouldn’t have ticketed without her intervention - still hasn’t for what it’s worth…). Colossal QF screwup, but not in the slightest bit surprising.

Then there is probably no chance as someone else may have taken the seats. Once I had 2 identical bookings due to earlier crashes, but I went and book again. One was ticketed and credit card charged. The other booking dropped off in a couple of hours.

This airline is a joke. Decided to call to try book a multi city award. Think I got Suva.

Them: "Points plus pay or cash?"
Me: "Just an award seat"
Them: "Oh, points plus pay then"
Me: "Er...no , an award seat"
Them: "Oh! Just points. No problem. What's your origin."
Me: "Well it's a multi city itinerary, starting in Rome."
Them: "Oh you have to do that online. Would you like me to coach you on how to use the website?"
Me: "....."

LOL

but rather engage travel agents to book these flights via the back-end systems.

Dunno about others, but my travel agent (mid-sized corporate/personal) avoids booking on Qantas if they can reasonably offer another carrier, as QF have cut the TA's commission so much. If my TA books me Qantas, they now charge a booking fee (not unreasonably; they got to be paid somehow).

Seats no longer avail when searching 😔
Qantas incompetence at its best

After countless 500 errors I managed to snare 2 x J on QF2 for 26/12 earlier today.

Got through to the payment page but it timed out (because I wasn't expecting success and didn't have my card details ready!). Not match fit. :(

But I did get a PNR so rang the CC and got through to CPT after about an hour and was not hopeful. However, Kate was not only able to finalise the booking but also managed to add two additional flights, take the fees and send it off for ticketing. All up she took about an hour to finalise the booking.

Then, believe it or not, the e-ticket came through within about 5 minutes! And it is showing on checkmytrip.

I think that calls for champagne.

PS
The CX availability loaded over the last couple of weeks. It's been giving me false hope trying to find seats to SIN or BKK....
FOMO seems to have taken hold. All those CX seats that have been there for a couple of weeks are being gobbled up.

Can anyone confirm it's normal for flights not to show under bookings when card has been charged? (points haven't been deducted).

Did you get email from Qantas with e ticket issued? If not, probably not ticketed at all

Guys,

I managed to grab 3 x CX MEL-HKG Tix in J. I have got a booking reference and a ticket number. Points and YQ got charged. But the status says WAITLISTED.

Called QF and they said it will take awhile to be processed. Should I continue chasing??

I did book a ticket from Seoul to Sydney via HK. I just checked my flight status and it says "waitlisted" is that something new with Qantas? I have never heard of being waitlisted for QFF reward classic flight before...

Gets better

HUCA

Same as above, but she finally got the gist of what I wanted. OK, cool.

"No availability on that day sir"

OK. Fine. Hang up.

On to the website, and booked and paid straight away LHR-xSIN-xSYD-MEL in J.

Now to figure out how to add FCO-LHR on BA on to the PNR so instead of 490GBP, I only pay 380EUR in taxes...

That should be simple enough for the call centre, right? Right?

Well, Kate in CPT managed to do exactly that for me earlier today so just stay calm and keep trying.

I thought that was incredibly easy. Redeemed three return tickets in a mix of F and J to Singapore from Sydney. Glad to get rid of all those points.

No email

The payment was processed over the phone at around 1pm and the guy said it would take a couple of hours to come through.

For what it's worth this is a flight in October if it matters.

Will be spewing if this falls through.
