Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

After giving up this morning due to so many website errors and Error 500s I tried again this afternoon and got J QF1 for mid-July although nothing coming back to Aus. Then managed to get a SQ J LHR-SYD flight for mid-August, all flights are A380s.
Super! 😊

Does anyone think there is likely to be further release of seats related to this 'drop' or is this it? Notably one destination that I never could find any reward seat availability for was JFK on the new SYD-AKL-JFK QF3 operated route.
Personally I would say not likely.
I've also been looking pretty steadily for this route and have not seen any availablilty since it was announced where there was reasonable availability for a day or so including the points plane.

Since then, nothing. Today I ran more than a few searches SYD-JFK vv and saw zero availability on QF3/4.

At the same time though they would be frustrating many who are fence sitting on their thoughts about Qantas. I personally believe that many people would be much happier if they did a staggered release using a system that actually worked.
How about just nornal award release like they used to have in place and stop trying to earn brownie points with these dumb promotions.

They want 80,000+ points + surcharges for DPS-BNE. Seriously? Cash airfare earning SCs and points is just on $600 and sometimes less.

This airline is a joke. Decided to call to try book a multi city award. Think I got Suva.

Them: "Points plus pay or cash?"
Me: "Just an award seat"
Them: "Oh, points plus pay then"
Me: "Er...no , an award seat"
Them: "Oh! Just points. No problem. What's your origin."
Me: "Well it's a multi city itinerary, starting in Rome."
Them: "Oh you have to do that online. Would you like me to coach you on how to use the website?"
Me: "....."

LOL

Well, Kate in CPT managed to do exactly that for me earlier today so just stay calm and keep trying.
Blow me down I just called and got someone in CPT who was actually competent, understood my issues and needs, and made the changes accordingly. The tax refund quoted is about $40 short of what I expected but we'll see what refund ends up coming through, assuming this goes through and gets ticketed properly. So, thanks @Jacques Vert for the reassurance and advice.

It was needlessly difficult, but now have FCO-xLHR-xSIN-xSYD-MEL in late September, for 158,600pts (the first BA sector in Y, rest is QF).

Feels good to burn down the QF balance. At least I can comfortably know even if this change doesn't go right, it's QF and BA so will be safe in the event things don't re-ticket correctly.

Hey guys regarding my tickets that got waited on Cathay - an agent said that the waitlist has been denied.. I told her not to do anything to that booking, noting that I have an eticket number. What do u guys suggest I do?

Use that reservation number on CX website to see if you can allocate seats. If you can it is most likely already ticketed.

What I am looking for is available if I want to travel 3 weeks early. Not sure what I would do in Singapore for 3 extra weeks though. o_O

I'm not really too sure how good a release this is for J. I already had an OWA booking but wanted to change the dates. Hit all the normal issues (plus 500 errors!). I had the near-perfect itinerary including amazingly a QF flight into Syd from HK>. But yet again - no J availability for QF or CX accoring to the CPT agent although I could see them. Brick wall. Same issues, same problems just more angst.

Only slightly tongue in cheek question here, but does Qantas know that Perth exists beyond just being a runway? When I eventually managed to sneak a peek at availability looking for a PER - LHR redemption maybe around 40 minutes after the sale started I couldn't see anything except the odd J seat in CX via HKG and a smattering of J seats on Qantas if I wished to travel to LHR via SYD followed by SIN!!! 😂 I wasn't able to check FCO until later in the day but it was the same story re: no availability. I've not heard of anyone else managing to get a rewards seat on QF9 either during this release.

When you add in an international departures lounge that doesn't accept lounge passes and new international destinations that are announced (JNB, CGK) and then cancelled (Perth Airport's fault apparently, not QF's; although that is coming from the man that put the delays in QF's flights last year down to his customers not being match fit) you begin to feel that WA is in an even shoddier class of it's own in an already shoddy setup.

I wanted QF6, I saw nothing at all. Might come in later releases I suppose.
Same, wanted QF6 in late June to make our trip home a bit easier. Currently going MXP-DXB-HKG-MEL-HBA with first leg in Y, rest in J and 24 hours in dubai. Would rather make it an easier FCO-PER-SYD-HBA, but alas it didnt seem there were any to be had (or I couldnt get it to work anyway)
