btw here's another fun QF inconsistency for you I noted.

that QF153 is marked as Brekky and Brekky offered - flight time 0925-1500 - yes arriving in AKL at 3pm. Breakfast

YET

I took MEL-OOL 0930-1130 in September, arriving before Lunchtime... it was marked as Breakfast, but on board they served a "Lunch" service (I kid you not)

In what universe does this make sense?

Yet on my MEL-CNS 0920-1145 (albeit last year) which was marked as "Lunch" they served a Breakfast wrap which was the size of a "Refreshment" box. Inconsistency at it's best.

This is the QF155 menu for tonight's flight. Personally I think that having the soup as both a small and main plate is kind of cheating. 01479801766.jpg

As is the cheese being both a main and a dessert option. BUT - having three other main options makes it OK in my opinion - pretty decent choice and variety on these routes.

QF has cheated with the soup thing on flights for years now. Even in F.... it's easy for them just load up a thermos or 2 and offer it as a small or large bowl. Allows them to "offer more choices" but not really. meh

These are the options on flight QF154 AKL to MEL departing at 1505. Not too bad today.

The egg noodle with char siew is beautiful.
I had it for eat on Q. Or Q-Eat.

I quite enjoyed that dish. Mrs B and I shared that and the fish burger. I preferred the noodles but then again being Asian might have something to do with it :)
I also quite enjoyed the Peking duck on the way over.

QF125 last Friday. Tender soy chicken. I managed to score extra chocolate ice-cream which was awesome.

Although the beef perfectly cooked medium rare eye fillet on Sunday (EK435) killed it!

Supper menu on the red-eye MEL-AKL a couple of weeks ago. Having eaten well again in the F lounge prior I had the chicken kiev just to see if it was better than the poor offerings eaten on domestic routes. It was, but only marginally.

The breakfast danish was excellent.

And breakfast menu for AKL-SYD. Omelette was nice. Tomato and ricotta pastry was excellent.

In Nov I had the Hapuka burger and Mrs B the noodle salad with char siu pork. She definitely had the better end of the deal. The noodles were quite tasty.

In general I find menus everywhere theses days are becoming increasingly annoying in their descriptions. Just tell me what's in it and I'll narrate/decide the rest.

Menu for AKL-MEL last weekend, afternoon flight.

I had the same menu recently from AKL-BNE - it was a lot better than the VA menu I had a few days before on the way to NZ - especially as this is a true 3 course service. I also thought the wines were better too.

I also thought the AKL F lounge food was ok given the time of day.

I am increasingly using the AKL F lounge, as the EK lounge food has gone (a bit) downhill. It is still the superior lounge and the staff there all know me so I still pop in and have a quick bite and glass of wine when the lounge opens, but the QF F lounge is certainly sufficient these days. Not the right thread but I will be disappointed when the F lounge goes to make way for a combined lounge.

I actually asked Sarah (my J cabin attendant) about beef or the Hapuka burger - she suggested the beef. When a passenger later in the flight asked for the burger the smell as it went by was not great. On top of your comment I think Sarah and I made the right choice!

Definitely. I decided to try the burger because I'm quite partial to the fish burger in the F lounge. Unfortunately but not surprisingly this one doesn't live up to that.
