I was in AKL F this morning AND THERE WAS NO KAPITI ICE CREAM. Did the 787 welcome party cost so much that all ice cream has been banned to pay for it?
Was there last weekend also for breakfast and no ice cream in the fridge. But on request one was provided ;)

How crowded was it out of interest? Last weekend I was one of only maybe 5 pax. Two QF flights to SYD and my LAN flight were the last three morning flights, but I expected more people.

I get the impression LAN don't like their transiting pax going to the lounge. We were called for boarding 20 minutes before the screens even said "Go to gate". Fortunately I ignored the call.

Interesting you say that. Both myself and Mrs340 noticed it was busier than any visit in the last 12 months. It’s the long weekend in NZ though so I assume that’s a factor.

Had been underwhelmed by the average quality of the food in the MEL F lounge, so decided I would eat onboard. Had what was an excellent roast pork plate.

Vicki was our JetConnect J attendant and was terrific, but the plated service was very slow. Seemed most of the J cabin wanted to eat but too bad if you wanted it quick so you could sleep. Service took close to 90 minutes from takeoff.

The muffins for breakfast weren't offered to everyone, just those who had chosen it rather than supper. I didn't want one but found it odd as it's never been supper or cafe breakfast before (for me anyway).

Any comments on the J offering on the 2pm QF144 AKL-SYD? I've been booked a flexible economy ticket, and the 11k point upgrade seems ok value compared the 20k option I have for QF141. Just seems an odd time to require a better meal service.

Duck rillettes starter was terrific.

Looking through the pics from my last trans Tasman I saw I had the duck rillettes too (I'd forgotten about them) so I won't post it. But it was a good starter and if my, obviously failing, memory has anything left then I'm sure I had the same course on an ADL-PER in July.

Sadly had the exact same menu yesterday SYD-PER. Duck was good but skipped the fish. Will post in the domestic forum.

Anyone done bne-chc (breakfast time) in J? I have one coming up and interested to know what is on offer.

I haven’t but there are quite a few breakfast menus posted upthread so should give you an idea. I’d be pretty confident you’d get one hot egg option, as well as a muesli and probably a sweet option (like pancakes or banana bread).
