Qantas Travel Money changing to Qantas Pay - May 2024

Ah, good.
With a 5 year exp date, the cycle of them sending cards out, would be before the old card starts to deteriorate, ie, the outer red plastic starts/starting to peel off, or the corner of the card starts to break.
---
They (now EML) must make money off the cards, but tho, they are in a niche market, so maybe they a happy to run it at a bit less of a very profitable venture.
Would not be cheap to run the Qpay system.
---
Just 2 more Qs:
Does the new card have the little indent for those of sight impaired.
And is the # facing downwards, so when we tap and go at a retailer, the person cant see the #s.

Sorry, forget we got shown the pix of it above.
So the # are not visible to store staff, and no indent.

On the topic of membership cards being phased out, should I choose a digital membership card or a digital membership card? 🤣
I would hope that Qantas can continue to have option of a physical card, there are a few of us who would be happy to pay points or cash for them.

I am hanging out to have a card that says Life Time Gold, I would probably frame it.

What is the point of a Qantas Pay card if it cant be added to Google pay, how will I pay at a physical store.
Yes, I can memorize the 16 digit # or write it down, to spend and buy some things that allow it to be used to pay like that, like my metro bus tix, but at a petrol station, or WW, the virtual card does not cut it.
===
Have tried to add the QTMC several times to google wallet for NFC, and as others have said too, it wont compute.
---
For check in, and bag drop, that digital card might be ok, but then, I am HLO only, even when I went PER - SIN in 2013.

Sorry to be that person but my level of interest in this was zero or less until I realised I have about $2000 still on my old card - whatever it’s called now. So if someone has the time and kindness to give me a quick 101 on how I can retrieve my money it would save me a LOT of reading this thread and other guff relating to this legacy product. Thanks 🙏

Given you have a VERY large positive balance, do you have a current QF FF card with a valid QF money card (ie not expired yet)?

If not, request a new card (only takes a few days) and go to an ATM or buy something.

Not sure what the max ATM withdrawal is these days. But the big banks won’t charge an ATM fee.

Not sure if you could pay a bill or three.

Thanks so much @SYD - I do have a physical card (valid to end July i think) so will get onto that and report back.

i had this money left over from various work trips in the 2000s - and as there has been zero interest on bank accounts until recently, it wasn’t worth the trouble of trying to move it out as I kept think8 g is use it. But technology moved on and I actually forgot about it….

It is pretty easy to transfer the money out online. I don’t think you need a physical card to do so unless I have missed something

But at least you kept getting physical QFF cards with that balance. I made the mistake of taking out my last $20 a bit over a year ago and they haven‘t sent me a new FF card since…😔

Yes, so long as the last QF Money card attached to your FF card hasn’t expired. Mine had and it wouldn’t let me transfer (or doing anything) until I requested the new card and activated it - which I’ve done and then wandered up to an ATM and took out my $50.

My Qantas year starts in June and a few weeks ago I got my QFF card with QANTAS Money on it with an expiry of 09/25. So looks like mine was issued before the 21st but you would think they would have waited until my old card expired in 09/24 then sent me the new one.

They got into the cycle of issue cards based on the exp date of the QF Money card not member status year (they didn't necessarily align).

To log in, into the Qantas Pay card, its still via the qantasmoney website, so there is still a link to it under the qantas system.
Not sure how the link works into EMLs system tho.
Or did EML buy over and owns the whole kit and "kaboodle" but the daily operations of the card is left under the qantasmoney system.
Like who pays who/m.
Ultimately, us the user pays to start with, of course.
(Ie) interchange fees, or fees for some merchants who charge a card fee, my Asian fast food place charges a card fee for all cards, debit or credit, no interest paid out even if a person has a large balance in the account, etc.

Is it just me or are there other people who won't enter a competition if the prize involves flights in anything less than J? :D
I registered off the email that arrived earlier. I was surprised by only “Premium Economy” and you probably couldn’t upgrade with points since it’s a freebie. But I guess I could slumb it to/from Asia (or AKL 😂).

Just to let everyone including @SYD and @mannej know that I did manage to log in and transfer all my cash out. Exchange rate was woeful, but my time with Qantas Money/Qantas Pay is now done!
Oh, it was in foreign currency amounts? 😳
