T&C:

This introductory offer excludes existing Card Members or those previous Card Members who have held any American Express Card in the last 12 months*

For those unable to meet minimum income threshold... Helped a friend with some imaginative income and costs as part of application process and voila, immediate approvals. Now has CC in hand fully activated no questions asked. Nice to know Amex don't care to validate credentials or employer.

use to your advantage...

Does this include accounts with AE attached? i.e Westpac Earth

Hi, I'm new to the forum and finding it very informative and interesting.
For this card, if I'm a supplementary amex card holder, would that disqualify me? Never been a principle amex card holder before.

Hi mranwa,

Welcome to the forum!

I was in the same situation as you earlier this year, mrs aaronjames was a supplementary holder of one of my Amex cards (Plat Charge), she then applied for her own Amex card (Plat Edge) to take advantage of different points earn table... no dramas at all receiving the bonus points!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I just applied online and seemed to get instant approval. Shall wait for the card and see what happens.

Just applied and was instantly approved. I'm self employed but above the income requirement. Has anybody not been instantly approved?

I got my card today, really fast, 6 days from online application. Now to spend and get the bonus!
Never had an amex before, always thought not worth it as merchants seem to either have high surcharge or don't accept it.

Any tips from the "pro" amex users re worth while purchases inclusive of surcharge offset by points earned?

I use Amex for 80-90% of my purchases and pretty much never pay a surcharge. At most major places I shop (supermarkets, servos, lots of restaurants etc) it is accepted happily.

I think acceptance is much better than if used to be.

My corporate card is an Amex so I spend most of my life (happily) enjoying a high points earn on my expenditure.

I've been thinking of applying for this one, but I have a NAB AMEX....does that count as an AMEX product or NAB product?

I don't want a rejection on my credit file so am unsure about giving it a go :)

I decided to apply for this yesterday afternoon for the bonus points, and received an email today saying my application is being reviewed. My income is a long way North of the minimum income requirement for the card.

I have bank issued Mastercard / Amex combo but decided to put this down as a Mastercard. I had a Plat Charge card for 3 years but cancelled it in March 2013 so longer than the "no Amex in the past 12 months" requirement.

Will wait to see what happens...
