Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

I just had my QF 61 BNE-NRT come through Y-J at T-60 for 2 (my other half is a NB). nice start to the holiday yeah showing J3C3D3I3 a couple of days ago

I’ve received my LAX to JFK QF11 W to J at T-60h 45mins for 2 pax WP and SG. They are getting sooner and sooner! Great outcome for the start of our Christmas holiday.

There are still F and J seats available according to expertflyer.
I had a feeling that there might be as there was some confusion at check in - one minute there was two spare PE seats and then when she went to see of she could allocate me one of those she came back and said that the flight was totally full - confused!

Can't see it any more but half an hour ago there were 2 F seats, 2 J and a stack of Y. Maybe two premium economy. But who knows the reality!

I don't think they know the reality - but anyway received a last minute reprieve - upgrade to PE as boarding commenced. Flight was about 90 minutes late leaving L.A. as there as a B.A. A380 on the gate before us and they seemed to tunr their flight turnaround into a debacle and a half.

Two successful upgrades from economy to premium economy on QF11 (Dec 11) / QF12 (Dec 18). QF11 notified by SMS about 21 hours before. QF12, got the "See Agent" at the new facial recognition gate when boarding...which is always a nice feeling but less so without the beeps!! :)
In both cases, I had a request in for business class upgrade with the opt in for PE if available. And in both cases got an exit row PE seat...

At this time of year you did well!

Success! 3 pax upgrade confirmed from PE to J for tomorrow (Christmas Day) QF93 & QF11 MEL-LAX-JFK (the LAX-JFK came through as I was typing ...had written MEL-LAX only...!)
Nice one QF! This was part of a long shot plan when I booked back in Feb...very pleased with myself...
Merry Christmas

Success on QF23 on Wednesday 26 December. 2 pax upgrade from Y to J on A333. Was showing 5 seats in J available on Monday 23 December. Upgrade came through at T-28 via text. One WP and one PS on the one PNR. Flight was full in J and looked full in Y too. I always find it hard to get upgrades on QF23 and QF24 so was really pleased.

This is an experience from a friend of mine.

He is a NB and was travelling on a 'Saver' fare from MEL to SIN (and HND) and submitted a offer of $240 + 10k points to upgrade from MEL to SIN on QF37 on the 30th of December.

Upgrade was accepted and confirmation came through at T-24.

Nothing like putting in an upgrade request as soon as a booking is made and scoring it (all done last night) ...
Pretty normal for me.

If looking to upgrade a domestic flight before booking I check for award availability (U class) on prospective flights and only book from those.

Once ticketed (normally just a few minutes), I then request the upgrade. It gets approved and then I am selecting seats.
