Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

9/8 - QF24 - Y -> J as WP at T-48
03/12 - QF11 - Y -> J as WP at T-60
11/12 - QF8 - Y -> J as WP at T-60

Fingers crossed for MEL-SIN-LHR in January, but reasonable luck of late. Fantastic crew on QF11 as well, dealing with an entitled passenger who couldn’t wait for her pyjamas (despite not changing into them).

Got 2/3 requests through as a WP.

21/12 QF291 (SYD-SIN), from Y flex --> J, received text at T-73 hours. Got to finally test the AY J seats (I can now see why they are polarising).

24/12 QF36 (SIN-MEL), from Y saver --> J, not allocated. But the supervisor in the Y cabin offered to move me from my window seat to an empty middle row of four seats. Got a decent sleep from dinner to breakfast which was a great treat after an active day in SIN.

25/12 QF418 (MEL-SYD), from Y saver --> J, received. After having successfully done my OLCI for the QF36/418 trip the night before, a few hours before the departure the QF app suddenly disabled the digital BP's and flagged that I need to obtain boarding passes at the airport. That's when the upgrade became through.

Edit: fixing an airport code.

10/12 QF40 CGK-MEL Y Saver to J - Upgraded at gate. Received a text saying they're "unable to confirm" my upgrade request T-11. At the airport, check-in agent confirmed whether I still wanted an upgrade to J, I said yes and she said to approach the gate agent and confirm with them. I asked if there are any last-minute no-shows, she said no and that there's 1 seat available in J with two contenders, myself and a QF employee.

When approaching at the gate, I asked again about the upgrade, gate agent said she wasn't aware of an upgrade and that J is full, though after scanning my BP it did the error beep and she just said "oh, you did get the upgrade". She swapped my Y BP for J, scanned it and let me through.

Xmas day upgrade successful for myself (SG) and +1 (NB) on QF101 SYD-NAN. Notified at T-26. Exceptional service from the CSM on this flight. Fingers crossed for success again on the flight home in a few days.

QF1865 DRW-MEL. Upgraded at T-72 (and 2 mins) as WP. No classic awards were available when I booked months ago but J had no seats sold. Earliest I think I’ve ever gotten a QF upgrade come through.

Earliest ever upgrade? QF877 OOL-MEL Y-J. I don't think J had more than 2 seats sold but 1 week and 6 days before is impressive

QF2 (SIN/SYD) 13 Dec J to First at T-72 successful (Finally!!!!! And only way to use my points) after many asks for reward seats 😂. As WP. But of course my bad for traveling when everyone else is but note that tix was booked and requested in Feb 23.
Congrats and enjoy! 🍾
