Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Pleasantly surprised by an upgrade on QF10 LHR -> PER departing 2nd December. Upgraded from classic rewards economy to business class. Found out at check-in, 24hrs before the flight. I didn’t even bother trying on the QF1 on the way out though.

The first time I’ve been business class long haul and very much spoiled now 😀

Edit to add: bronze status

If anyone is feeling charitable, would they like to check loads on QF127 tomorrow, 27 Dec for me?

QF WP looking to upgrade from Flex Y to J. Nothing has come through yet...

Merry Christmas!

If a member with access would please let me know the possibilities of an upgrade to J? January 5th QF7 SYD-DFW. I booked flexible economy to boost my chances and put in the upgrade request when I booked back in July. I also think a solo seat stands a better chance than a pair. I have not ticked the backup upgrade to PE, possibly because I think it might jinx my chances! Silly, I know.

When people request the backup upgrade from Y to PE, is this an option in the business upgrade window or do you just apply for both upgrades simultaneously? I've never had to do it before.

Bugger! I'd better put in the PE request then. (Unless I was sure of a ghost seat.) J prices are just through the roof currently and just not feasible. Thank you.

Edit: There are not even any J seats to buy on QF7. Nor PE. The flight doesn't even appear to book. Yikes!

Yes, apply at the same time in the business upgrade window. Or later, as in my case. 😥

Woohoo! :D

Upgrade to J from a Y classic reward just cleared on QF103 on Saturday from SYD to HNL despite J0 when I checked in the flight loadings on 20 November. (Just got to try and get an earlier MEL-SYD flight now to take advantage of the SYD Flounge courtesy of the generosity of @Robert K...)

I am wondering......

When I did a dummy booking for QF7 on Jan 5th, there were no J or PE seats available to buy. However, when booking Y, my reserved seat was available to select. That whole set of three seats wat. I am therefore wondering if classic rewards upgrades have actually already been allocated but not advised to clients? I will post here when I know for sure. Nevertheless, I am not counting my chickens.
