Qantas VTL Flights - Singapore

With the impending travel bubble opening with Singapore, it's interesting that Qantas have yet to announce whether the flights they're operating from Sydney and Melbourne will be eligible Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights. Although it's likely that all QF flights to SIN will be VTL, if I were to want to fly to Singapore next week, I'd probably go with Singapore Airlines who announced their VTL flights at the same time the bubble was announced.

Anyone heard any news on this?

I'm curious too as I've got flights booked already with them but there has been no official announcement about this.

I mean logic dictates that the QF and JQ flights to SIN would be VTL since there are no onward connections from SIN at the moment to and from QF. Otherwise, all of their SIN-bound passengers would be subject to a 7-day self-isolation order. However, I'm really surprised that they have not said a word about it yet and wonder if they were caught unaware by the special arrangement for SIN.

Did they announce anything about travelling with unvaccinated children? I think the Singapore - Germany VTL does not work if you have unvaccinated children with you and you are subject to quarantine.

VTL does work with children. Varies a bit but mostly under 12 are fine on VTL flights. Some countries require them to have a PCR, including Germany.

Kids can come into Singapore, no problem. Unvaccinated children from any country Germany considers high-risk (Singapore is currently classified as high-risk) have to quarantine for 5 days on arrival.

Definitely caught unaware....but it's now quite a joke it's been a week and still not a peep from Qantas. Singapore allows only 4000 non citizens/PR's to enter the county via the VTL everyday, and SQ/Scoot are operating SIX daily flights from Australia, by far the most of any country in the VTL network (the UK has two). Qantas is probably trying to work with the Singapore govt to see what type of slot they can get. Tbh, I struggle to see whether they will get a daily run from Sydney and Melbourne, and might have to shift to a 3-4 times weekly service for now.

Their flights to SIN are terminator flights for now so no one in their right mind will be travelling on those on the days that they are not VTL flights (assuming they are even able to get certain days of the week locked in).

I'm sure there will have to be an announcement one way or another in the coming days. SQ flights have become seriously expensive as well.

The US aside, all other countries in the VTL scheme do have their flag carrying airline also in the scheme, so I'm sure Qantas will too.

Do NOT call their FF service desk though, the staff know absolutely nothing about it, and hands down got some of the utter basic rules of the VTL wrong. Just an example that Qantas are a little unprepared on how to operate within the VTL.

Qantas has added a Singapore travel section about a hour ago on VTL requirements but still makes no mention of whether ANY Qantas flights are VTL designated. One thing I can see is that in Qantas' requirement they say passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they had their 2nd show for 7 days, however, Singapore requires people to have had their 2nd shot for 14 days before considering them fully vaccinated.

I considered cancelling my flights on Qantas to come back to Singapore on an SQ VTL flight but then realized that although we bought the higher priced flexible tickets where we get a full refund if we cancel, the refund is in the form of flight credits to be used within 12 months of ticket issuance. Not sure how I would manage to spend about $6k on flights before September 2022! (We bought the tickets in Sept 2021...).

At least that's what it says on the website - does anyone know if Qantas is making any exceptions to the expiry of flight credits due to the current situation?

Does anyone know if Qantas will have VTL flights to Singapore. I'm due to fly in mid Dec. I'm going to give it another week for news of VTL flights, then cancel my Qantas flight and get an SQ flight.

I am afraid Australia and Singapore adopt different perception about VTL. in Australia context, all flights are ONLY FOR VACCINATED TRAVELLER as announced by Qantas CEO and PM Morrison. All passengers on board are fully vaccinated with approved vaccines. so all flights are VTL by default.
SIA marks VTL and non VTL. It seems to me SIA is still carrying travelers who has not had vaccines on NON VTL ? We have yet to understand from SIA if all SIA flights are ONLY FOR FULLY Vaccinated passengers. We need clarity from SIA

VTL condition from Singapore side means individual who has resided in Singapore at least for 14 days, showed negative PCR, and legally qualified to enter destination country. Based on this understanding Singapore PR is eligible on VTL. This idea comes with disclaimer. You may double check accuracy to the relevant authority
