Qantas Wine Issues

Just adding to the "happy with..." people (which doesn't help OP I know).. I have been impressed.. just a week or two back I ordered on a Thursday night a mixed case it showed up at my place on the SUNDAY (via aus post) here in MEL. I was gobsmacked.. in fact I was lucky that they texted to say it was on board the delivery van so I knew to stay home. Maybe it's the local people in my area but hey've always been good with wine and stuff (and you have to wonder with the big "QANTAS WINE" boxes as it's pretty obvious what is in it that some may not "redirect a delivery" or something.. but honestly have had no problems other than about two months ago when delivery took about 10 days but that was at the start of stage 4 iso lockdown and all the AP issues here in Melbourne with less staff etc so I did not ding QF Wine on that and it showed up in the end.

I do agree it's probably dodgy / poor delivery agents at a local level rather than Aus Post or QF wine per se.

Off topic but I ordered some spirits yesterday from a small distillery, I got notification yesterday from aust post it was being prepared (was pretty impressed) , today I got another aust post notification saying "your order has been shipped, expected delivery date 23nd November to 27th november:eek::eek::eek:

So I did have one like that a month or so back.. but the time got revised much sooner shortly after (like a day or two) and it arrived earlier still.. so hopefully yours arrives much sooner than that window!

Ive noticed that a few times recently,
Probably due to covid and the fact we live in Victoria

Exactly. which is why I was absolutely stunned that it took 3 days to get a case delivered just a few weeks ago (drinking one of the wines right now :) )

OP are you in WA like the other guy that was having issues?
Sydney based - and as an update the correct wine has finally arrived! Wondering now what will happen with the carton of incorrect bottles........
I’m in no rush to call back and ask how to return them! :)

My experience is they just tell you to keep the wrong wine. However, my experience was usually just a single bottle or maybe two. Never a carton.

Sydney Based! , I have ordered quite a few cases of wine from Qantas wines and have never had an issue at all, delievery time is usually 1-2 business days for me.

Keep them as compensation

Bought 4 cases of 6 each from Qantas Wine (QW) on 24-12-20. 3 of 4 cases delivered 29-12-20. I called QW & explained the problem. I said I wouldn't provide my date of birth for ID purposes as they had plenty of other non-sensitive stuff I could confirm my identity with. They insisted so I logged a complaint whilst on the phone. The fellow suggested I wait a few days to see if the missing carton was delivered. Aust Post sent a few emails telling me about delays etc... Still no missing carton today, so I rang QW again to tell them there is no sign of this missing one. Still wanted my DOB but I still said no. I don't provide that to Woolies when I buy a bottle of milk so they aren't getting it either because they can't even deliver my order so I certainly will not be entrusting them with my DOB. I asked for a supervisor to call me back with a solution to the problem and a response to my complaint lodged 2 weeks earlier. The supervisor called back - he had not been given my request to have a response to my earlier complaint. I said that is quite pathetic. I said I had received an update from Aust Post to advise that the carton was lost, so I asked the man to re-issue the missing order. He again wanted my DOB - I said no. He said that Aust Post confirmation would take QW another 5 days to confirm. I said that is rediculous as QW has the contract with Aust Post but I can get confirmation in two hours. I asked the supervisor why QW had sent my order details to an outdated email address & how weak was their security if this is how they operated. I asked him what his DOB was - he declined to tell me. I again said I do not trust QW with my DOB so he would have to sort it out with Aust Post by tomorrow PLUS email me a response to my complaint by tomorrow or I would complain to QANTAS and to The NSW Department of Fair Trading because businesses cannot take your money without providing the goods.

Aside from all that - QW would not know how to run a chook raffle & it's the last time they will get to have my money.

Welcome to AFF SBB, they can be painful to deal with like many others. Stick around as there is a reasonable amount of chatter here on wine deals

Why they would ask your DOB is a mystery to me, as AFAIK QF don't hold this information. I've never told them and can't find it anywhere in my profile.

cheers skip

They send out birthday offers - or at least used to - so definitely have members DOB on file (not saying they should be asking for it regarding a wine order)

That’s right - they do send out Birthday offers. From memory last year’s was $50 off any case of wine which I of course used on a bonus points offer

I think they have access to QFF profile data including DOB mobile email etc.... However they are a wine retailer for goodness sake - not managing my money transfer. If they can't deliver wine or figure out if my order hasn't been delivered, then they can't keep my data safe.

QFF profile data including DOB
Went through ny QFF profile data and DOB is not there, pretty sure it's not on file. Qantas Wine might collect this separately but it's not on my QF wine profile. Privacy fail if they keep it but you can't see it.

I absolutely agree. I am pretty sure Qantas has it as I don't have to enter in when updating my international travel details. Why they would pass this info to a wine retailer is A HUGE FAIL. I certainly never gave my DOB to QW so how did they get it if not from Qantas. And why do they need my DOB anyway.

They'd want to know they were dealing with someone over 18, but usually a 'tick-a-box' asssertion does that

Wine is a restricted substance that can only be sold to people older than 18 years. That's why they ask for your DOB, because liquor licensing laws REQUIRE them to make sure you're at least 18 years old. It is NOT to ID you.

The milk analogy is ludicrous, since there is no age restriction on buying milk. Woolies DO check ID (for age) of people trying to buy knifes. - that is also a law.

Sure they could do a tick box, which is want they do on the website when you order. But how does a tick box work on the phone?

Seriously, if you don't give them you DOB, then they don't have to sell you wine. What makes you even think they are recording that DOB somewhere.
