Qantas Wine latest offering

Back of the hand calc and a quick search says you can get this for $226 elsewhere... $23 for 5000 bonus points, +3pt/$1 + ccard... hm.

As the Epiqure community grows, rather than making the effort to create regular events (that realistically only a small proportion of members will attend), QF's main focus has obviously turned to flogging off large volumes of (sometimes questionable) wine in the style of a large online retailer.

Guess it was their intention for Epiqure to evolve into that all along.

Are they still charging for membership, though? They really should just make it free, as apart from points, the 'member exclusive' offerings are now almost non-existent.

well Qantas is the third biggest buyer of wine in this country..they'll have a lot of great and not good wines to get rid of

Has anyone else noticed Epiqure have wines on their site that don't automatically display?

If I select "red wine" on the ribbon it says there are 219 items (as of right now), then I check the $50 plus box it comes up with 85 wines - scrolling through these I have noticed there are a few wines that I know they stock but never show up. If I search specifically for the wines by name they are available - seems like a strange way to sell products.

I have stumbled across 2 examples

Possibly missing classifications? e.g. if the wine isn't classified as "red" (or even misclassified as "white") it'll not show up when looking in the red category, but would if you search? Care to post an example?

One example is Tolpuddle Pinot

I think this is missing the "pinot noir" classification.

If you search for anything else (e.g. try Penfolds Grange), all applicable categories show up on the left hand side. No varietal shows up when you search for the Tolpuddle, so I think that's what's wrong. Might have been an oversight- a bit sloppy if so.

Yes, I think you are correct - I wonder how many more wines are hiding on the site...

Thoughts from my Learned Friends about the "Favourites Reds from the Cellar"?

It's about in my sweet spot in terms of a dozen, just whether it's good value at $228?

A good mix.

Value is okay-ish. $19 a bottle is not horrible, but some of these wines have been on the 'fo or Dans closer to $12-15. If you want a smattering of good mid range reds without needing full cases this offer may be for you.

I haven't seen much to get excited about lately. 2000 points with 3 wines for $189? Not really.

I get the distinct impression that the Epiqure program has been relegated down in importance in the Qantas family. The reduced number of events I take to be a good indication of this.

Agree, I have not made a purchase for some months, nothing to really entice me

I've been slack in not seeing clients lately so still have a small cellar under my desk. The offers have continued to be underwhelming (wither lowball points or just discounts) so I haven't felt too bad consigning the emails to the electronic waste paper bin

Same here. Very underwhelming.

I recently used the free membership offer code, having let the previous membership lapse due to not making purchases.

I got the Pepperjack promotion yesterday, all was good other than the price/points ratio. Considering I've paid $180/5000 points very recently, spending another $120 for the same number of points doesn't interest me much.
