Qantas Wine latest offering

How in the world do you purchase such expensive return flights? Even flying to Awk isn't that expensive.

I think a return fare to Wake Island Airfield (AWK) would be much more than $800 - if you could get permission to land. :)

But as to spending $800 on an airfare - do you never travel outside the Golden triangle, or in Business, for that matter?

Have you ever flown to a regional area?
The price below is just to get there, double it to get back.
One time, ADL - ARM return was over $1,000!View attachment 382943
Yes I have flown REGIONAL (REX) a few times. On a serious note have flown to MKY CNS RKH.

Well, I do enjoy flying REGIONAL when flying the golden triangle (because of the J upgrades)

Was short around 40K QFF points for a future redemption and noticed per FlightFormula that I could buy a case of 6 Reschke Cab Sauvignon for $594 with 30K bonus points. Decided to call up QF wines, and was given an offer of 4K bonus points for that on top, plus 9 points per $ spent (as I'm a QF Wine member) meant that all in all I walked away with 38,896 points (and some plonk to boot). Applied a $50 QF Wines voucher from being a Points Club member which brought the price down to $544 which means I effectively bought the points for 1.39 cents per point. Not bad!

Another data point for those who have the QF Points Club Plus and have the 10% discount on wine, my friend who has that called in and 4 cases of the wine. He was offered the 30K VIP bonus (on top of the 10% discount) which when applied with a $50 QF wine voucher he had brought the price down to $2088.40 for 171406 points (30K bonus points per case * 4 cases + 30K VIP bonus + 18795 for "bonus base" earn on QF wine + 2610.50 for the QF points earn from their AmEx QF Ultimate card). In other words they paid 1.22 cents per point. Also not bad on wine which from a bonus points per case isn't incredible (imagine if they had some plonk at 1.7 cents point bonus)

Do they offer big (ie >25K for 6) bonus point offers for white wines from time to time? Only been for reds while I've been looking recently.
