Qantas Wine latest offering

Hi Boylero

After trying the Yering Shiraz Voigner for the first time at Xmas, I purchased more. It is outstanding, and even more so if aerated or decanted prior to drinking.

Yes, we have enjoyed it very much in our household as well and are very pleased to have been introduced to it through Epiquire

The reds are fine, but yet to try the chardy. The wine cabinet is full and I'm thinking its time for a dinner party :D

I suspect you may be disappointed with the Flametree chardonnay; it's more in the style of the Chardonnay of some years ago, IMHO.

Agree though that the Yering's tres nice: the voigner gives it a nice breadth.

Blergh, even after giving away chardonnay as christmas presents to all and sunder, we still have some. Ick.

Need to find someone who loves chard but hates sav blanc!

I am that way inclined ... Used to be the other way!

Was not that impressed with the Mad Fish Chardonnay in the festive dozen though! Will reserve my judgement until I drink the second bottle though!

I discovered that one of the women I work with can't stand sauv/blanc but likes chardonnay. Great to have a split-the-case-with buddy!

I used to love chardonnay but made the terrible mistake once of buying a bottle of Jacobs Creek chardonnay to have with pizza one night in front of the TV. I felt like I had been poisoned by oak syrup. Ruined it for me for years to come. I am now very slowly coming back into chardonnay but cannot abide anything too oakey, which is why I don't like much of the chardy that Epiqure offers.

Similarly, I used to drink a lot of SB but gave it up after being subjected to too much passionfruit stuff from NZ; so now I much prefer French or West Australian SB or, even better, Sancerre blanc.

Funny how tastes and wine fashions evolve.

The tide has turned for me. Chads are pretty good these days.....haven't drunk it for best part of 10 years & was quite surprised when I was recently slipped a mickey.

Everyones on about Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but I'm much more a fan of Riesling (which they have) and Pinot Gris/Grigio (which they don't seem to have) :(

AdMEL - we found the Madfish Chardonnay quite horrid - and after opening one bottle got rid of the rest.

Adelaide Hills chard cured me of chard forever. And ever. Mr k_sheep and I had to go and buy some salami after a tasting of that one, because nothing else was getting the taste out of our mouths! Urrgh!

I used to be into the reislings and voigners ... still happy to have them but prefer the sauv. Moscato also goes down a treat in summer.

There's nothing better than moscato on a picnic is there!

On the red side, I've contacted Epiqure to lobby for durif. If people haven't tried it, I'd thoroughly recommend it. Campbell's do a nice one.

Well I have 4 bottles in the cabinet now but yet to try it. I'll have to give it a go but sounds like a few lucky people might get a gift

Just had one of the SC Pannell GSM from the Mixed Dozen, and was pleasantly surprised.
I'm looking at trying their selections as a chance to hopefully find something good that I might have otherwise not tried.....
Just have to get one more dozen for the bonus points, so browsing their offerings again :)

Steer clear of some of their chardys; Jeez they could strip paint.

Some of the chardy is woeful, but similarly with the other varietals. Both the Stonier KBS and the Eileen Hardy are great chardy options IMHO (though I'm not much of a chardy drinker)

The $198 Taste of Epiqure case is on offer with 1500 bonus points this week.
It has three bottles of Chardonnay...

As an aside, it's good to see some reasonably priced sparkling wines on offer now, including Croser. I made a comment requesting some reasonably priced (<$30/bottle) sparkling wine about 6 months ago and they've obviously listened.

I saw this and indeed looks good: a word of warning, I have previously commented here on the chardys Epiqure bowls up. I believe the Flametree chardy was one of the ones I feared could strip paint. It was very deeply horrid. But it is only one of 12 -- I might give it to my parents for them to donate on the door prize of their Probus club or some such!

Looks like a great deal! I don't see Flametree Chardonnay as part of this dozen! The only wines I see as dubious are the Junipers Crossing Chardonnay (I didn't much like the Juniper's Cab Merlot in the festive dozen) and the Sauv Blanc (I don't like Sauv Blanc!). At an average of $16.50 per bottle, all wines appear to be well below the Dan Murphy's price (except the Juniper, which is the same price at Dan's).
