OK guys

It's time to get serious! We botch and main about PB here all the time. Thing is that our complaints are just a whinge fest amongst ourselves.

So let's get right into the spirit of 2010 and get twitteriffic*. It isn't hard to tweet (though I still don't get the whole twitter thing) so every time we see a coughtastical PB effort why don't we have a coordinated way of getting the message across to QF?

my suggestion is that every time we have a coughtastic experience of PB we tweet the following:

#QantasAirways #Priorityboarding #coughtastic QFxx_ ORIGIN-DEST brief reason

Virgin do this well. They have trained their travelling drones to obey the law so lets help QF train us and other pax the same way.

On th flipside I am also keen to post the tweet:

#QantasAirways #Priorityboarding #supercalafraglisticexpialidocious**

When it actually works!

*technically twitteriffic is an actual app so all citations should go to them
** I can't believe I spelt that right first time....

I know we've done this to death in the past but is PB really THAT important ? Are you happy to Q to get into the MCG for a footy game ? I personally don't get the whole PB thing. Can we get over it ?

For things that go wrong & discussed on twitter, the #fail tag is the one which has the most impact.

So the best construction for this tweet would be:
Another @QantasAirways #Priorityboarding #fail: QFxx_ DEP-ARR Reason

Without the reason text, it comes in at 61 characters - giving the poster more than enough room to tack on some text.

Also, if you can post a photo of the gate area with the tweet showing priority boarding not working - even better.

Also easy getting a twitter account or facebook page going to help re-highlight every time priority boarding goes south.

I'm a big fan of the early boarding for children and elderly. However, watching the throng on DJ in DRW on a 1.15am redeye when they announced Children, Differently abled, elderly, BUSINESS and Gold all at once, and the business class passengers trying to push ahead of everybody was amazing. DRW needs a DJ lounge, or hand out coffee vouchers to Gold and Business so they chill rather than their desperation to escape the bogan and coughtastic lounge at DRW.

I've been leaving photos on the Qantas FB page of the virgin priority boarding working when I remember.

I tend to agree... not very important in the whole scheme of things!

I would like to invite both of you to fly with me for a couple of weeks. I will no longer take qantas flights leaving ADL because of the boarding #fail. (But more than willing to make an exception to aid your understanding). I still have a couple of pre-booked flights to take that will allow me to monitor if there is any progress, but once those are gone, I'll probably only try Qantas once every couple of months.

In fairness, my issue is the total lack of any control over the boarding process at ADL. But PB will at least force ADL staff to actually try to control boarding.

Just as it is not important to you it is important to some people.

It's very nice to have :), but not necessarily the be-all and end-all. But I think the point is, they offer it as an advertised benefit to certain status levels (who have generally achieved those levels by paying plenty of $$$ to fly on QF), so they should provide it. Consistently. Every time.

I note ashleyn is a QP member and I imagine haydensydney you would probably have lounge access too. Imagine if every second time you turned up at the QP they said, nah, sorry, no entry for you today, we couldn't be bothered policing the door, and as such the QP is now chockers full of non-members so there is no room for you. You'd be a tad peeved I would reckon.

As to the OP, yep I reckon a very good idea, will get much more public airing, and hence (hopefully), commensurate levels of embarrassment and rectifying action. I may have to learn how to tweet!

I assume you need a Twitter account for this which unfortunately rules me out. I support the concept though.

It's a stated, published benefit of the program and it's not being delivered.

If the program benefits say Platinums get an apple and an orange with each meal, Golds get one or the other and Silver get neither then I want both.

I've for it, Qantas says I'm entitled to it, so pease give it to me.

PB sounds all good in theory, however it is probably one of those published benefits that probably is of a lower priority to QF yet helps it fill pad out the website in relation to the actual benefits of having any actual status.

Yep all good in theory, until you go over to Virgin Australia and they actually provide it in reality!

I agree that everyone has different priorities in life, and some value things more than I would, but priority boarding isn't really a life changer is it. I mean you get to your seat 2 mins before other people but the net effect is what? You still depart and arrive at the destination at the same time?

Creating a name & shame twitter campaign for when it isn't received seems a bit... unusual...

In other words, I wouldn't give it much airspace in my list of life's priorities.

PB is a published benefit, why wouldn't you want it to work right every time? Yeah its not the end of the world if it doesnt work, but if they say they are going to do something, well they should do it right.

This question has been answered a thousand times. Over head space, It is a published benefit are just 2 of many reasons given.

yep...the race for the overhead space is getting a bit like the USA. If you get on early you have a very good chance of being with your carry on. Amongst other things it sure helps to get off quicker
