Maybe the inter-capital prices are sharp but there is nothing special about the prices between PQQ & SYD.
I'm currently seeing some sale fares for Late July to Early Spetember.
ADL-SYD $99, interests me most.
But then Jetstar is offering $69 for the same route in the same time period. Big choice for me to decide if the lack of lounge access meaning no paper and paying for coffee on my morning flight, and/or paying for snacks and internet before evening flights is worth $30.That's pretty damn good..
I haven't flown with Qantas for a long time.. just don't see the point in paying twice as much for a domestic flight.. Always found Virgin to be reasonable.. and more consistent..
But with $99.. can't go wrong!

Plus my travel estimates mean making platinum with Qantas this year.
Ahh, see these are things I have never thought about!
Never thought of lounge access.. or food for a domestic flight.. buying food at your destination just always seemed the way to go?
And.. I've never really used my memberships to gain something.. haha?
Oh dear.. I'm probably the customer the airlines hope for!
But.. if they are the extras that make you happy.. it'd be obviously a Qantas flight..
But, if you just want to get to where you're going.. I'd save the $ and spend it when I walk out of my destinations airport!

Well first thing, I stuffed up - jetstar has the $69 airfare ADL-SYD not virgin. Opps. (edited previous post)
Otherwise, I agree with you entirely about saving the money. I guess as I'm current living in one city and working in another so my flying is more like the bus to work. I do find it a bit nicer to sit in the lounge beforehand sometimes, especially as I have nothing better to spend the money on.
Looks like qantas has responded to the virgin sale. ADL-SYD for $115, not exactly a match for the virgin price.
But this has me wondering if I should hold out for cheaper from Qantas. Or perhaps not dropping the price closer to virgin shows that qantas is unlikely to drop lower. I only have 1 flight to get in july and then September so it doesn't really matter. But I'd value any opinions.

If they’ve already dropped the price to a set level then it’s unlikely to go further, that said, there could be a different sale in the future that drops to a different level, but for July, you’re cutting it a bit short. The next sale might be for further into the future than a couple months.
Thanks for the thoughts. Looks like I'm going with virgin blue in July.Historically they don't do so. They regard themselves as having a product premium over Virgin Blue, and as a result can charge a premium. There is plenty of evidence to suggest they are correct in their belief.
