QANTAS's domestic sale(s)

It's a long way off innit? Does anyone plan domestic travel this far out?

For me I agree, I tend to be only able to book travel 2 weeks ahead max... due to not knowing where I will be! One stage I never knew where I'd be the next day, some days I booked tickets the night before!

I think that's how they make money by getting the more expensive tickets!

At last, MEL-BNE prices at an almost-reasonable level. Tix booked for 19th - 21st. :)

Also, there's Ozfest in ADL in late May.

I'm thinking about booking in for that now.

I don't know what I'll be up to next year, as my schedule is bound to be radically different. But I'm looking at booking weekend flights, and I can always fly back into position for a pre-booked flight if need be. :p

Somewhat cheaper than the last one:
Airfares look the same as the last sale.

Yes the sale is a long way off although for someone like me who travels back and forth 3-4 times a month it is good to lock in low(er) airfares where possible. At the time of the last sale I booked all my domestic flights until 30 April 2010. It would be nice to book flights until end of June 2010 as well but I may wait for another sale....

MEL/BNE was $135 in the "last" sale, down to $129 for this one.
The correct answer as usual. SYD-BNE was $79 in the "last sale" and is still $79 for this one.

By the way can someone come up with the most effective status run for BNE-CBR 27 May 2010, CBR-ADL 28 May 2010 and ADL-BNE 30 May 2010? Need to leave late Thursday night, early Friday morning and late Sunday night. I have found one not too expensive but will only yield 65 SC's due to time constraints....

I got the following using the multi booking tool. $468 and 70 SC so $6.7 per SC. Pretty sure that 70SC is a practical limit, max for CBR-ADL and ADL-BNE is 25 each, and BNE-CBR will get 20, unless you can get a trip via MEL, but I don't think that would be an option.

Flight 1 Thu 27 May 10

Actually that is prety close to what I have so far but unfortunately BNE-CBR is only 10 SCs at ~696 miles but still looks like 70 SCs....

Let me know what you decide on for the return flights. I'm looking to fly on Friday via MEL to ADL, and back on the Sunday via SYD to BNE, netting 50SC's all up at $5.75/SC.

The trick is to ask for BNE-CBR, but to book the BNE-xSYD-CBR option. This was $10 extra and gets 20 SC (10 x2) as you take 2 different flights.
BNE-xMEL-CBR would net 25SC.

So I asked for BNE-CBR, CBR-ADL, ADL-BNE but selected BNE-xSYD-CBR, CBR-xSYD-ADL and ADL-xSYD-BNE

CBR-xMEL-ADL will only get 20SC.

ADL-xMEL-BNE, imo is a better option, but I couldn't see it at a time that I thought might suit. Usually cost the same as a direct ADL-BNE and the longer MEL-BNE alolows for status bonus points

Unfortunately there's no red e-deal for MEL to BNE that night, so the ticket suddenly costs a whole lot more. However you get the same SC's ADL-MEL-BNE as ADL-SYD-BNE.

Righto, just booked my flights (for Oz Fest) before the sale ends.

Fri 28 May 10

Sun 30 May 10

21:05 Sydney 22:35 Brisbane QF556

Would have considered booking for OzFest too, 'cept there's no reduction MEL/ADL with this particular sale ...

I thought the sale finished tonight. Flights will have to wait until the next sale....

Have not seen prices this low since the Domestic Bliss sale. Pity about the small travel window though :(

Maybe the inter-capital prices are sharp but there is nothing special about the prices between PQQ & SYD.
