How low can they go, noticed this on the QF website this afternoon, makes JQ look expensive by comparison:

Singapore return from

$487

Travel dates 10 May 2009 - 30 Nov 2009

Same price from Melbourne.

MEL-LAX/SFO is coming in at $649 as well.

I have tried every day from 10th May to the 30th Nov. for a return trip from Brisbane to
Singapore and could not get anything under $700 return. Still a good price but nothing
like the advertised $487.00

Hmm. This is madness.

How is Qantas making any money? Surely they can't keep pushing prices lower and lower?

$1081 to London from Brisbane?
$899 to Santiago?
$847 to New York?
$763 to Hong Kong etc

They can't make money but if they can keep market share and break even then its better than parking aircraft and putting staff off and loosing market share.
I guess thats the calculations they have done.

Nasty game from Qantas:

Fare 1 x487.00 Charges/Taxes 214.97 Total Price 701.97

Not including taxes by the look of things. Bad Qantas.

Hmmm, They nearly always include taxes and its law soon, i guess that maybe because it was on the industry site ?
Still a nice price.

Also, was pricing up some options to LHR.

QF 2xx (cant remember exact number) "Operated by Jetstar"

No. It's on the main page. Just checked MEL-AKL as well. Same story, fees/charges/taxes not included.

The $487 is supposed to include the taxes

International Flights - Brisbane

Prices are in Australian dollars and include charges/taxes as at 3 April 2009 and may fluctuate due to changes in charges/taxes"

Hmm, the international red-e-deals page seems to have done a runner.

Ditto for a London fare from Brisbane:
Fare 1 x 1081.00
Charges/Taxes 416.32
Total Price 1497.32 = $1497.32 (AUD)

Hmmm. I'm sure that's not allowed under all-inclusive advertising requirements.

Yup, Syd-Sin return $718.50 (Fare $487 + Surcharges / taxes $231.50) but unbelievable prices!!

I'm thinking someone messed up, given that the international red-e-deal page seems to have been pulled (and the fare list on the home page has been replaced with a search now graphic instead of prices).

Page has now been updated to include taxes.

I have a PDF copy of the page EX Brisbane ... :)

I found this too departing melbourne. Its QF265 operated by jetstar to Bangkok, and then QF/BA from bangkok to LHR. $701 one way.

Hmmm. No problem. I can almost schedule a trip for June/July at those prices but only problem is I do not have annual leave so would have to take 2 weeks unpaid leave. :(

Why couldn't these airfares be around 2 years ago? :(

And these airfares earn QFF points unlike the Emirates and SQ specials....

Im sure you are right - I seem to remember something last year in the papers about this being an illegal pactice...

Mr!

Question ,, if one was armed with the PDF above, would you be within consumer rights to get that price ??

or is it all to bad , as they have fixed the error ?
