Being honest I haven't seen evidence either way but personally I won't be risking (I'm very close to 18 months so will wait it out).

I got the Explorer card just 2 months ago and this one looks very good if I can get the signup points. Looking forward to hearing from those who are in a similar situation took the plunge and applied for this one.

I had a Velocity Platinum that I canceled about 8 months ago, I got the Explorer about 2 months ago and have used an AFF referral for the Ultimate. I got the 5k for first use so don't see why I wont get the rest of the bonus points.

IMO if you have not had a QF earning direct Amex you should be home and hosed

Just signed up for an ultimate card. Approval went through straight away so now I'm just waiting to receive my card. Replacing my ANZ Black (nothing wrong with that, just card hopping to take advantage of bonus offers).

Got my card on Nov 19th, met spend on 21st, 100,000 points dropped in to my QFF account today. 16 days..must be some sort of record.

Still holding a Qantas American Express Premium Card. Wanting to apply for this card.

Should I cancel the Premium card first and then apply or should I just apply for this card as well?

Reports of people getting the bonus points whilst still holding another AMEX or getting the points after cancelling one card and immediately applying for another card appreciated.

There seem to be reports of it working with different card families i.e. platinum edge > qantas ultimate; velocity > qantas ultimate, but I haven't seen any of QF Premium > Ultimate. I personally held the QF Ultimate and won't be risking it as it's the exact same card.

I'll be very surprised if you did not get the points. I've been successful over the last 10 years or so. My friends who started churning less than 12 months ago have also been successful.

Cancelled this card mid October and reapplied A couple of weeks ago. Already received 5k initial bonus. Have now met the spend for the 105k (pending transactions to tick over). All looks good.

Thanks for info, just received this card and currently hold a Plat Charge so will keep all informed RE points and balance transfer.

Amex are normally good with this type of thing, had a DJ's card a few years back while holding Plat Charge and got points so hopefully.

Decided to go with this one instead:

I thought it was a bit more generous and easier to use the travel credits rather than the flights.

Application was quickly approved. Just waiting on my card to arrive.

Note: At no stage during the application process did they ask if I had any other AMEX accounts.

I will be cancelling my AMEX Qantas Premium Card in Jan.
