This no doubt has been answered pages back, so my apologies for perhaps asking it again.

Will the daily QF10 B789 arrival (ex LHR/PER) into MEL at 1955 hours (AEST not AEDT) form the four nights a week - I was looking at May 2018 timetables - departure of QF95 (that I assume is also a B789, since for some reason I couldn't look it up) at 2140 hours?

If so, is this asking for trouble? 105 minutes between two very long flights?

Other airlines manage to do it just fine, the 787 has fantastic dispatch reliability, I can't see why QF couldn't do it.. (if indeed it is the same airframe)

"They" may but bear in mind this aircraft (IF it is the same one) will have been on a super long sector (LHR - PER) and then a much shorter one (PER - MEL) so it will need the usual cleaning and so on.

So a 787 "day" on some days might look like

LAX-MEL clean MEL-PER clean PER-LHR clean LHR-PER clean PER-MEL clean MEL-LAX clean and then a 15ish hour rest back in LAX. Six sectors.

A domestic A330 day?

PER-SYD-MEL-SYD-MEL-PER-MEL. Six sectors. Six cleans.

I'm not sure I see the problem...unless you want to make one up.

Yes there is a bit more catering etc but this is all factored in to a turn time.

Thanks Must...Fly!

I picked 'cleaning' as one of the numerous tasks.

Time will tell whether there is lots of late running. I reckon there will be, so we'll see how wrong I am.

The 787 has been doing PER returns for weeks now with a 1:40 turn.

Remember that when the aircraft arrives in Melbourne, it's only come from PER, where it would have been last cleaned and catered.

Off the 7 transit times for MEL-PER-LHR-PER-MEL-LAX-MEL: 2 are 1:30, 1 is 1:45 and the other 4 transits are over 4 hours.

After some long haul sectors, the aircraft just about need to be hosed out!

Very good point.

Variable, but I have been on long sectors - 12 - 14 hours - where the cabins are in a pretty disgusting state as passengers alight. Often wonder with all the bending required (especially in economy class where the pitch is less) how cleaners manage to do their job efficiently in what may be a relatively short period. Not airline specific as to state of cabin. Legacy airlines just as affected as LCCs.

42 pages worth of commentary and it all stops 2 weeks before the first flight. This thread is awfully quiet considering the first flight has taken off and is mid-flight (currently over Iran). Are all those interested actually on the flight and disconnected from the world?

Profit media is in overdrive on this one.

There is a TR and mostly those involved are in the air.

<Quick off-topic ... @Peter D : first copy the URL you want to link to .. if its an individual post on AFF, click on the post # on its top right and copy the entire URL on the top of the window that opens up. Then, in your post, type the text you want to contain the link - in my post above it was See here . Then highlight that text, and click on the link/chain symbol in the tool bar. Paste the copied URL there and hit 'enter'. My link was to a different thread than yours, though.>

FR24 is out by an hour, as it has QF9 touching down in LHR at 0353 hours. Clocks went forward an hour this morning in England to BST.

27177DD0-1BCD-4572-8BB0-B53A24B78C8A.png And after all of yesterday’s excitement today’s QF9 is off again and so quickly it becomes routine... If I can do this in Y+ (or better) I’d love to have a go.
