The link certainly does work. Except you are pointing to my thread about the last QF9 A380 flight via DXB, not the first B787 flight via PER.

I haven't seen a TR of the first 787 to LHR flight, but I am sure there is one somewhere.
So you’ve obviously survived the Y experience?

C'mon vloggers... this is history in the making... JC (Cook) took ages to get to Botany Bay, and in reverse from MEL/PER you peeps won't!!!
Share, share, share...!!!! (OR as the QAN CEO might say... Cher, Cher, Cher!!!)
It is very quiet from that lot.

I wonder if this is the first time that two scheduled QF9 flights have been in the air at the same time? Not counting delayed flights.

The inaugural QF9 MEL-PER had taken off about an hour or so before our last DXB-LHR QF9 landed. Just to confuse FlightAware.

There were a few hours yesterday afternoon where FR24 listed the first and future PER QF9 flights as ???-???-LHR and the last via DXB as ???-DXB-LHR. It sorted itself out after DXB-LHR landed.

Dumb question - does route this fly West or East? I've always flown West to the UK but I wanted to check..

The indirect flights from the East Coast towards LHR go over WA. The shorter distance to LHR from PER (compared with MEL/SYD) means that flights from PER-LHR can now be done direct non-stop whilst it's still too far for direct non-stop from the East Coast (though QF is hoping this won't be the case for too much longer as they want to do direct from the East Coast within the next five years).

Going to London for a week early May. Thought I'd take a look at the new flight.

$13,810 on QF9/10! $5,980 on SQ (with a stop of 50 mins) Ex-Perth.

They must be nuts.

If QF believes they can make more profit by charging a premium over other airlines they will.

It's quite possible the sale fares for the dates you are interested in have sold out. If there are limited seats left only the highest fare bucket may still be available.

Have you checked the pricing for MEL-PER-LHR on the same dates? They could be charging a premium for the passengers flying direct from Perth. There's plenty of competition for one-stop to LHR from MEL, but QF's the only airline flying direct non-stop PER-LHR.

You can enquire about the flight loads for particular dates in Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Gouging while they can?

Qantas really, well possibly, reminds one of the huge award flight fees perhaps.

But IMO I'd rather a stopover anytime to break the journey, relax overnight and then onwards, but then again I'm old and need it.

Here we go: apparently only one journalist who was is Y the entire PER-LHR flight and so journaled a true Y experience
Bland food and aching bums - we try Qantas's new Perth to London 17-hour flight

It seems like most of the others were wined and dined from the front and reporting about the rear from the front. Or maybe only had a momentary Y experience - as in sat in a Y seat for 10 minutes instead of 17+ hours?

Full marks to this guy.

Could any other "journalist" say they spent the entire journey in Y? Like to hear about your experience.
Do I hear crickets?.
Wow, its in darkness the whole flight. And those seats look super small. He is not a big guy either.

Why didnt all the other journalists report on the facts?. Because apparently they were reporting on the hyperbole.?

3 cabins but only one journalist in Y. Seems a bit odd?. Maybe they are still recovering from their ordealo_O

Ill keep trying to find a proper Y experience report. Its hard......

Cos no more free trips from Qantas if they write anything less than complimentary? In any event I'm sure Qantas gave the most important travel media business class seats.
