Hell yes!!!!!

I am an A380 flyer all the way. Best planes in the skies.

And try the upgrade lottery to F. Well worth it :) :)

Upgrade approvals (when granted) were coming in a week before the flight last year, for WPs. But there was chat on another thread as to whether SMS or e-mail notifications were being sent out now, or not.

Cheers. I am bronze now and will still only be silver by the time I take that flight (which will tick me over to gold).
Should be 10scs away from platinum by the time I get back all things considered, unless I can jag an F seat with JAL next weekend!

Thanks for all your help guys. Currently in the Sydney J lounge waiting for QF5 which should be in the reconfigured bird. It's all working out at the moment!!

Love the A380, but also the 747.

Definitely go for the upgrade unless you're flying out of SYD in March 9. I've got an upgrade request in for that day!!;)

Seems A380s are less reliable than 747s but decor of 747s is often found wanting, perhaps not with the new re-fitted but on those headed to the graveyard, they'd wouldn't look out of place on PIA.

A380 much quieter, especially near emergency exits v.s. 747 u/deck. Roomier. Sentimentality, I accept and respect for 747 but I don't think it holds its own purely based on the facts.

In my opinion the 747 is a much nicer experience as an aircraft. It feels more exclusive, and if you can get upper deck in J it is fantastic!

Having said that, you're guaranteed the markII Skybed on the A380, but the business section is so expansive that it feels like you're just one of everyone else.

The original Skybed is not a bad product, and I feel it still is a cosier option than the markII, but the IFE is definitely a step up in the markII, which will be the main advantage other than the flat bed.

Why don't you try a380 one way and 747 return? Or vice versa.

Also, the 747 staff tend to also be a bit more 'old world' qantas, than the a380 staff - who are a lot newer and younger. But not always.

+1 for me. Did 747 upper deck to LA and A380 back. While both were obviously fantastic, the outbound was my favourite. I found the upper deck to be like another world. I know many say the A380 very quiet, but I didn't find that . I would do 747 upper deck again in a heartbeat.

IMHO the small J cabin at the front of the A380 offers the same exclusive feeling. And yes I've flown both.

I agree - you have to compare upstairs on the 747 with the mini J cabin on the A380.

For Int, it's always been at the T24 mark ... for me.

Yes, Emerald City has a lot going for it, although 747 upstairs is good.

I am a 5B man. Love all that room. Got it to JNB on March 5 unless they change to an old girl, then ill be heading for 4A.
