Has anyone had this occur to them before?
I'm baffled. Got QF35 in the morning and booked to sit down the back with mother in law. Online check in went through but then the system refused to issue my boarding pass.

MIL's issued no problem.

Bit concerned I might be in trouble for being so chatty and friendly to chef Linda last month in SIN...

Is this just a tech glitch? My first instinct was faulty seat but there are still plenty of unallocated spaces on the flight.

Edited to confirm: Qantas app says pick up boarding pass at the airport. So just baffled... QR code system down maybe!?

Meh. All an adventure. Will let you guys know if I've been banned and blacklisted in the morning, I guess!
It often happens if the system deems they need a human to check something. Most of the tine it's really nothing. Just curious but did you put in your APIS data correctly? Maybe you made a mistake there.

Everything looks fine, mate.

Not a stress either way. Just puzzling. Gotta drop mum in law's bag off so not like I could smooch into the flounge ultra early.

I had this happen on a domestic flight a year or 2 ago.

I was required to produce ID at the airport to verify identity. I took it as some sort of anti-fraud or know your customer measure.

I’ve had maybe one international boarding pass issued by QF last year? The rest were all ‘you are checked in but we can’t issue you a boarding pass. Please proceed to the airport’ (or words similar to that)

Never been an issue! Seat allocation has stayed the same.

The last two times an airline wouldn't let me have a boarding pass was because they had moved me to an exit row and wanted to check I met the capability criteria before handing it to me.

I’ve done several CGK runs over the last two years to get to Europe cheaply and the duration between flight up and back (or sometimes seperate one way awards) has been greater than the VOA stay limit. So you get the “Front up (and please explain)” message…

Never an issue, because I’m checking in a bag anyway.

But I’ve had it to the US, SIN and others…

Typical comfy bed and lack of cat disturbing me means wide awake early on... just checked the app and booked in for QF38 and the boarding pass for the return leg issued no probs.

The dark arts of computer systems. Guessing it is just a random security check for the outbound leg.

(At least I don't appear to have been blacklisted...)

I have had it happen when getting upgraded after checking in. Boarding pass was issued when checking in, then asked to get at the airport after the upgrade is successful.

I had it happen to me domestically earlier this year when I (when half asleep) pressed that I was travelling with dangerous goods when I wasn't - of course, no boarding pass. When I got there, there were huge queues but got told to go to the lounge and get them to print my boarding pass and they did.

I've done the same before.

Have had the same issue with a recent AKL Trip, after much investigation the Check in Lady found that the computer had automatically checked me in for the outward and return journeys however, the return leg was outside the 24-hour check in window, this prevented them from issuing any boarding passes and prevented Immigration from allowing me to leave the country. In the end we had to cancel the online check in and recheck in just the outward leg. Problem solved. It seems to be an IT issue in the QF System.
