QF Double Status Credit Promos - I am not 100% sure I follow the logic anymore...

I just got another status credit promo, 50% SC on any QF marketed flight with different travel dates, but the similar booking dates:

I also got the DSC one mentioned above (for QF marketed-and-operated flights). I wonder how these will work together.
Don't activate the 50% one, just the double!

I’m guessing that the offer you register for first that applies to the flight segment should apply, I think, but that assumes QF’s IT systems work correctly. You’d probably want to check with QF on this though and get something in writing.

Double SC offer landed this morning...feeling loved again :).
Didn’t search for flights, well not QF anyway but still fly weekly on domestic, maybe that’s why they decided to grant the double SC.

Oops just read earlier post, is this a general offer, not targeted?

Not feeling any DSC love and neither is Mr Lat, Have searched for a couple of QF flights but then again, I already have nine flights booked through to June 2020. My year ends April 2020 so I hope something will come my way.

Very interesting, I just clicked the link provided upthread and it too me to the below....

And for those that have said that P1's don't get DSC, I believe I may have proved that wrong.

I received a 50% offer yesterday, and as luck would have it had to book some last minute domestic flights today. But annoyingly, the valid period ends in February and my new membership year is March, so I held off booking anything more.

Unfortunately it does not mean anything. Would be nice... :)

Well yes, some have indicated they got the targeted email/promotion, and some have not.

Well who knows what logic goes on at QFF :p

It certainly is the first time I am aware of in at least five years that any P1 I have known of has gotten a targeted SC promotion. Good for them for sure, but it's certainly unusual. :)

If they are a usual P1 and get there sooner, it's unlikely they will spend any more than before - no gain to QF - and it's possible they will spend less by taking business elsewhere(if able) once P1 attained or renewed - again no gain to QF.
While there may be a significant number of people in this forum who would achieve status and then spend their travel budget with other airlines, I think there are a lot of other people who, having achieved the status, would continue to spend with QF to enjoy the benefits of the status. That is, after all, the whole point of the exercise.
Unless you regard status as a trophy. Again, there may be a significant number of people in this forum who do, but I suspect they are outnumbered outside fora such as this.

Of course and I agree.

My comment was based on thinking of a "generic" P1 (ie not someone going for status for the fact of having it, chasing eytc or pretty much a member of niche groups like this).. and so I still contend that if one is P1 they are unlikely to spend *MORE* (note more) based on a bonus offer because they're likely going to do it(retain) on their (or their company/business spend) anyway.

At P1 there's no real further incentive to achieve, and most P1 travel enough that the notion to spend more to fly more is probably not high on the list :)

Now sure, i suppose the idea of LTP is now an incentive but honestly even for high SC earns that achieve P1 you're still looking at ~20 years of P1 qualification to get there. That's a LOT!!! Sure, there are people on this forum who earn well over this - say 7k, 9k SC a year - but at those levels of earn again you spend a coughload anyway, get the benefits and probably could care less about LTP

Anyway again this is why I understand QF not offering bonus SC offers (until now, apparently! :) ) to P1 because it's more likely than not that they will not make incremental income from the effort - maybe a little bit. Certainly status chasers or those using them to GET to P1, and a few of us who would really need DSC to retain it (I can't see myself retaining P1 next year tbh) but again people who care about such things are a minority in the general QF landscape, and likely small even in the pretty small population of P1's (that seems to be under 10k members and some say around 5k).

Just my opinion. Obviously I don't know and have no inside knowledge.

.. and QF of course has proven me wrong by sending this current targeted promo to *some* P1's which frankly surprises me, but I'm happy for them if they can use it :)
